i finally got my new headers. i decided to go with a set of hooker super comp ceramic coated 1 5/8 with 3 inch collector. i love em. they look amazing on the engine along with all the other polished alum accents. im very happy with them and the price wasnt too bad. they look way better then the old rusted black ones. here are some pics. i do have one question tho..whats the little tube lookin thing around the primary tube? its closed off inside, and i have NO clue what its for. now all i gota do is put my 3 inch X pipe and 50 series flows on and ill be set, cant wait!!!

the view from the bottom. thats all....hey how can i put em all on the same post? the pics are roughly 375K each. i though it would allow you to do up to 400K at a time, not just 400k. oh well. what do u think?

If its the tube looking thing i am thinking of (i have a u-tube on my hooker competition headers), it is for the heat riser tube for an electric choke. Is it in one of the pictures?
too much room?? its only 289.. the same amount of room as anyone else with a SBF in the older stangs, btw im glad u liked the headers lol dodgestang i see you have a 408..stroked 351W right?? shouldnt be that much bigger then a 289/302 block and Shawnb23, what engine do you have? i have never seen a 289 look any diff what so ever in the engine bay. these comments arent meant to be cocky, im just sayin... id also say my engine compartment looks great. its not all crammed up, and looks clean the way it is. If you take the pictures and edit them in microsoft paint you can make them smaller in size so you can put multiple ones on. They'll of course be smaller in every aspect so you may want to save the smaller image as a separate file so you can keep the large one. open the pic in paint, then open the "Image" tab, then select "stretch/skew" and on the stretch section choose to stretch the image by 50% on both lenght/height and width and it will make it smaller, just keep making it smaller like that with different percentages smaller than 100% until you have the desired size. It's that simple.
Oh, and nice headers, I've been looking at those ones exactly. I have them on my 88 Silverado and i went from manifolds to them and the power increase was WAY noticable. I love them and they make it sound freakin awesome. I take off my muffler in the summer and have it be straight pipe, woo hoo!
ok cleaveland is the bigger of the 351's right? im not exactly sure and isnt the 65-66 engine bay slightly diff from 67-68. btw i checked out your youtube vid...your car looks badass and that was a nice pass. my car kinda sounds like the car you were racing, minus the blower sound. :-( Nick

Looks great. The headers go very well with the chrome oil pan. Next time you run a nun over in a cross walk, I'm sure that's what she'll be saying. Keep the bottom side clean, lest your knuckles get smacked with a wooden ruler.

SWEET HEADERS, Love the engine bay, you did a good job. As far as the tube off the side of the headers it may be for the heat extractor tube for your carb like someone else said. didn't the instructions say anything?

thanks! the instrustions didnt say anything about the U shaped tube. i figured id run into someone with the same ones, and ask if they knew. lol well thanks for the compliments! i cant wait to put the rest of the exhaust on! Nick

i'd turn the boots for the spark plugs straight up, so they're getting less heat off the header

Those are sweet! I'm in the process of looking at exhaust systems myself. I have been looking at shorties since most long tube headers I've seen hang down really low under the car. These however look to fit up nicely! Really looking at these now. Post a shot of it once completed. What exhaust and muffler system did you match it up to? I like the 40 Series FlowMasters (Super 40 also) and was looking at the kit in the NPD catalog.
