okay so im looking to buy a cheap little car to drive around town and stuff while i restore my mustang, and i found a little MG Midget for $1700 and appears to be in decent running order. im going to go look at it probably but i just want to make sure it sounds legit to more experienced car buying guys such as yourselves...

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/680365830.html

thats the add on craigslist....it mentions it was bought a couple days ago or soemthing....and the title is lost, and only a bill of sale...etc...what does all this mean, and is it legit? it appears to be a perfect buy for what i need but i wanna make sure before i go driving up to sacramento to look at it...

any help, thanks a lot!

Looks alright in the pics, I'd ask or better yet, check online for info on how registering a car with no title and just bill of sale works in CA.  Might help know if it is a scam if anyone can say why a '75 MG is so much different than a '78, or just ask him what's with the year desire.

its been in storage for 12 years
it will haemorage fluids as soon as it is driven for any distance and your wallet will haemorage cash. And IMO they are a horrible little car anyway...sorry to rain on your parade but they do 0-60 in about 2 weeks. I'm guessing that one has suspension issues...they dont sit tail down like that normally.

Seriously, run away.
you want to spend your time and money on the mustang not trying to keep a crapfight like that on the road.

the car he bought was a rubber bumper car the older chrome ones are more desirable. this car has the 1500cc triumph spitfire motor. they weight about 1400 lbs so he wants a little more than 1$ a pound :P

if you want it go for it, one thing though these cars will need the oil checked in the car(has a side draft zenith stromberg)

imho they are fun cars but a MGB is alot more user friendly since its slightly larger, dont expect ot fare to well in traffic vs. a truck

+1 on rmodel65.  If you get hit by (or hit) an SUV, you may well be checking out.  And you won't be able to see worth crap in traffic since you are basically sitting on the ground.

my bet is he bought it as a donor for one of his others. he's taken something off it that is hard to get and put the old whatever-it-was back on this. Onsell, no cost to him.

yes you can buy a car with out a title.. you have to go to the cali. dmv web site or call... and get a form that allows you to buy with out title... i cant remember off the top of my head what its called.. but if you call and tell them that the title is lost they will tell you the form... but actually i think the owner of the car has to do it. but its as simple as punching in some info and hitting submit. so he shouldnt have any objection unless there is some thing wrong with the car and it cant be registered or something

I tried the euro cars for a lil while (Fiat Spyder)
Then came familiar with the saying Cursed by Lucas A.K.A. the prince of darkness.
Bad wiring and lil for those is a lot in comparing to the us autos of the same time frame.
It was considered normal to have constant charging system problems and a dead battery.

I was glad to see that car go. Chicks loved it tho lol
