Default Matching numbers

I've got a 68 convertible with "matching numbers." The door tag matches the dash VIN, and everything matches the build sheet which was found 3 years ago still taped to the top of the steering column. Have the deluxe Marti report.

Where are the "matching numbers" located on the engine block and transmission, and what exactly should they match?

VIN: 8T03CXXXXXX = 1968 Convertible, built in Metuchen, NJ

Default RE: Matching numbers

The only "matching numbers" on the engine block will be the date code casting numbers, since ford didn't actually do things to make these cars capable of being "numbers matching" the best they can be is "date code correct" meaning the date code on the block will be from about the same time, maybe a month or two ahead of the date your car was assembled. I believe you can find this code on the block behind the starter, meaning you'll have to take it off to see it.
