I'll clarify this, street race as in literally racing on the street(s) or highway with other traffic around. I'll even consider street racing as racing on a highway before 1am and after 4am. I don't race at all on the streets or highway due to the dangers, possible loss of my car, and bad stories I've heard of deaths and jail time. Street racing as stated will not include highway racing between 1am and 4am b/c we all know they are literally empty then except for some cops and possibly truck drivers(depending on highway), and I don't consider racing in an empty parking lot 1/2 mile or longer as street racing, or racing behind an empty factory/store with no cars and 1/2 mile or more of distance where other cars can't interfere, or racing on a 2/4 lane road(that's rarely busy) where there are look outs for cars 3/4 s of a mile to a mile away. So who doesn't street race and main reason(s) why if you would like to post it. I don't do any type of street racing b/c if I were to get caught my life would become a mess, not to mention if someone dies while I am doing it.

This is not a thread telling you not to street race, we're all grown ups here and can make our own decisions no matter what IQ level or intelligence we are

I have never engaged in a street race, and I'll have owned my car 4 years this fall. I've punche it next to someone playing, but never exceeded 5 over the limit. (35.lol)

to clarify my end on street racing.... Yeah been busted. When i first got my mustang it was practically stock (exhaust, headers, intake, shifter and grs)... still thought i was fast... I would hang out with a wild bunch. Very so often someone would get called out, we'd have a designated spot to race- never any cars, always late at night, and spotters, and always and escape route... And i've held to that learning experience ever since... but yes i also race on the track as well. more so track then the street--- street is too brutal with consequences these days.

I don't do organized street racing.  I guess maybe from a light, but not much past the speed limit/no traffic/naked women/etc.

we weren't organized either.... set it up-- only a set few would go.... a flagger, 2 spotters, and both racers.... typically the most there were was 3-4 cars out of the 15-25 other cars/racers that were in that parking lot on the wkends...And %90 of the time on of the racers had a camera passenger to show the race on film to the crowd back in the parking lot. And noe were never put on the web. 1 of the racers was actually a cop... forgot about him- he later got arrested- not for racing tho- something worse.

no..i think 'organized' like an elaborate set up.

if i was going to race someone out in the country, just because i had 2 people patrolling opposite ends of the road, i wouldnt consider it 'organized'

I street race. But, not nearly as often as I used to. Up until I got caught for it, a little over a year ago, I'd do it anytime and anywhere. Now, I only do it if I really think the other car is worth going up against. Plus, I know a perfect road to go to, that traffic never goes down and you can see clearly for about a mile, or so, in case a car may be coming. There's only been a couple instances, where I haven't raced on that road, since getting the Z28. When I raced the Grand National (went to about 85 in a 55, with traffic a good half mile ahead of us), and sorta racing a modded VW Rabbit GTi partially through 2nd the other day (up to maybe 45-50, in a 30, once again, traffic was a ways up there).

I used to street race in philly on front street back in the mid 80's! It was very organized. It really was something right out of the fast & furious, only it was 5 liters and old muscle cars instead of imports. I'll still play on the highway, If theres no traffic. I've not a big fan of weaving in and out of traffic though. If the road is clear for as far as I can see then I'll play. I really prefer to get my races at Atco. I love the track atmosphere.

I try not to race now, unless i feel like its safe enough, Ive raced numerious times before and most have been on highway. Too many friends have died and came close to dying, sucks how bad things gotta happen for you to realize what your realling doing. I dont really speed much either, i look at that i cant afford the consquences so why bother

What would you consider it then?

Cautious?

Spontaneous races to me seem like the most dangerous. Ones that just happen at a light, or while crusing down a street. (I know though, that there are instances where a race like this might be more dangerous than a planned otu one though)

I would then differentiate between an organized street racing 'group' and a race that two friends set up somewhere empty.

I've done it for over 30 years with no mishaps. But, I do it much much less since I'm older and the consequences are getting so harsh. I've never done it with other traffic involved......that's just ignorant.

i've never raced on anything but back roads and the track, but i would race on the highway in the right conditions, even redlight to redlight maybe but would never make a habit of it.  been driving my car for a year and a half now

Thats Extremely Hard to Believe.  The first day u owned ur car, u didnt see what it had? You have never launched ur car on the street.  See how it pulls to 100 on the street?
