3 nights ago we woke up and my dogs eye was crusted and swolen shut. so 2 nights ago my dad looked at it closely and opened her eye and pulled out a "foxtail" weed. it was about an inch long.  heres a pic of what they are. my dad took her to our church to run around and we're positive it came from there. so we figured it would just heal up now that the problem was out of her eye. btw we try as much as we can not to go to the vet. we cant afford it. pretty much if its more than like 300$ then we will just have the pet put down cause we dont have the money. and to put a pet down is around 300. . stupid vets just out there to steal peoples moneys. anyway so this morning we looked and her eye (around the eye) isnt swolen anymore but the eye itself is all cloudy. and its bugging her a bunch too. so my parents decided we were going to take her to a vet today. and hopefully they wont have to do anything major and charge us a ****load.

had a dog with one of those in its leg, the leg got all swollen, and we couldn't tell that the stupid thing was in there until the vet cut open the swollen area to drain the puss.  glad we never had to worry about how much the vet bill was going to cost when it came to healthcare.

so basically what your saying is that if you take the dog to the vet today, and the bill is more than $300, your going to put your dog "down"?  Thats pretty fcucked up.  I dont see how people could do this to a "family" member.

I am not surprised...it was true66gt that posted a week a go or two in some pet thread saying that this dude should just kill his dog

That is messed up(about shooting a dog cause its "old"), can't believe they charge so much though. My mom had to have her dog put down and they charged $35.

dude just get some saline eye wash, and pin the dog down and flush the eye. there are probly just particals from the plant still in the eye and they just need to be flushed out. the cloudiness is the dogs body trying to flush it out naturaly but if u help it by flushing real good itll probly be problem solved. and try going to the vet these days for less than 300 bux. our golden retriever has costed us thousands in vet bills already and hes only about a year and a half.

alot of people dont have credit cars because they are stupid and 300 dollars ends up being alot more by the time you get it paid off due to interest

his financials might be so bad that his credit cards are maxed out as it is we dont know

Why did you get the dog in the first place if you knew you couldn't afford to take care of it properly?

Because I don't have kids our dog is a part of the family so I know if it came down to it I would not be able to put the dog down. If it was a small chance that something could be done I would have to bite the bullit and go for it. After thinking about it for a minute that damn dog gets better health care than I do....lol

That is the first halfway decent post I have seen you make.  Only problem with it is that there is NO Golden Retriever worth thousands of dollars.  "Sorry Fido. Your going down".

I love my Chocolate Labs but my limit on what I will spend to get a dog repaired is about $500.00 depending on the dog and the situation.

Not because I am limited economically, but because, IT'S A DOG!

Also, to the OP, 300.00 to put it down is steep as hell.  You need to shop that price. I put one down a few months ago and it cost about 30 or 40 bucks.  I would have just taken her out and shot her if it would cost $300.00.

He is young and  has hip dysplasia and your going to stud him out? Knowingly breeding bad blood line is wrong!

Perpetuating bad genes so that whoever buys the puppys is going to have to deal with it too is bad form.
You need to let that line die out and the bad genes with it and next time choose a better puppy.
