here you go.. i'll be mustang owner doing the dreaded... i think it was edmonds or motortrend that did a shelby GT vs STI ('08 I believe) both MSRP at like 39k.. (maybe shelby GT is 1 or 2k less) anyway.. they said STI was better and at that price, I'd have to agree.. If I could only pick between those 2 cars I would go with the STI even though it is way uglier.. on the other hand.. I live in the real world where I can get STI performance (-awd handling) for 15,000 less... so.. I go with GT..
as far as Challenger being much cheaper than a GT500.. no.. 5,000 less once it hits that point its getting in the 40k+ range 5,000 isn't as big of a difference as it is in the 20k range. At the Ford dealership here they are selling GT500s at MSRP.. and in Montana we don't get too many GT500s in.. the sell as fast as they come in so if right now you go see one sitting in a lot and you tell them you'll give them MSRP for it I'll bet you they would sell it to you.. and I'm gonna ignore that first year challenger mark up because we all know that will go away soon enough..
and if someone is really getting an 08' challenger for 50k on the internet and its not a scam I'll be surprised.. ofcourse they are still paying more than a GT500 for it.. and it is a very unique looking car.. except when you see a 1970 challenger and people wont be able to tell the difference between the 2
Am I the only person who likes the looks of the STI?
I always get ragged on by friends too for liking this: Over this:

STI's are ugly, id love to have a Evo X. I think thats what that is anyway, those things are nice..STI's look like pure shat imo.
The 08 Challengers are obviously not going to be as quick as the 09's. The '09 has the trak pak option which will include a 3.90 axle ratio vs. standard 3.06, and the 6-speed manual. Considering the 08 is essentially a basement 13 second car, the 09 with a trak pak option should be capable of high 12's.
2010 the SRT8 line up was/is slated to receive the 6.4 500+hp hemi. Based on the current costs of fuel, that might be a little iffy.

[ I just went car shopping around two months ago and seen a red GT500 trying to sell for 63k..pfft. No thank you, I will take my 08 SRT8 and mod it rather than wasting 20k for some cobra badges, a supercharger, and a different grill. No way am I spending 63-65k on a car with 500hp, prehistoric suspension, all while having the same interior (wait a second, IT HAS COBRA BADGES ON THE SEATS) of the lower model 30k car. Call me crazy.
Where the **** do you live? From personal experiences, my dad's friend got a GT500 from a Ford dealership closing down for $40k and my dad and I test drove a GT500 at another dealership that was marked down to $42k. Plus, my dad who is a huge mopar guy, talked to a salesman at a dealership where he got his hemi jeep and my mom's hemi charger and said that they already sold-out all the challengers for this year and mark-ups on all of them were $20k-$25k depending on which color you wanted. And the charger SRT-8's I believe are no longer marked up at all, even though whenever I see one at a dealership they sell very quick.
My dad can beat your dad up
Those damn things still go for 70-80k up here
Anyone want to go halfers with one out of the US and sell it up here.....we could sell it for 60 and still turn a tidy profit
I seen that exact type of car (same color, wheels etc) on 13 in delaware yesterday. It'll get your attention pretty quick! The one I seen had rumble bee stickers on the sides. Sexy car!

Hey Frankie. The STI may be ugly, but at least it doesn't look like something my grandfather would drive.
Come on now. You bring the kids to soccer practice in that.
Say whatever you want about the Charger, it doesn't hurt my feelings. I love the car and wouldn't trade it for any mustang, with the exception of a GT500. Of course, you pick the base model charger to display how much you dislike the car, no surprise there. Good work man, you really showed me up on that one.

I've only seen one SRT-8 Charger, and I knew exactly what it was about a quarter mile down the road coming at me. SHARP car.
Someone that can actually see that there are cars out there besides the Mustang. I personally think the Chargers are some of the best looking cars on the road, look very bold and aggressive to me.
