ok guys you have always been nice to me and gave me advice so here goes.

i have a 99 GT vert 5 speed. love the car wanna make it more fun.

i dont want to go to the track, i dont want to auto cross, but i want to do the job right and only once!!

so i was gonna get a KB, with big air kit and all the bells. but i have a stock bottom end so the question is

do i just boost it and keep it under 9psi/stock bottom end

or do i get an aluminator, and do it right with nice heads and all the fixn's?? if i do this i can boost it down the road and have NO problems!!

any and all info go for it. ps. current motor has 60K on it.

thanks again

Build it first then get the boost. You will be much happier.

Crate motors or buying a shortblock complete is a huge waste of money. I built my block for $2100 and it is equal to any of those $3500 shortblocks sold buy the engine companys.

Build it, especially if you have a good shop that you trust.  The only other option is to go find a Teksid block and build it, that way you drop some weight.  You could even get some 4v heads and intake.  The Cobra heads work great w/ boost.  For what you would pay for a engine pre-built, you can build and go 4v.  Not to mention that before boost, you'll pick up 70HP by switching to 4v, then with boost it really comes alive.

Not to thread jack,,but no ****?

PM me with some details

not that i have any money or anything,, but it'd be interesting to read..

To the OP...it sounds to me like you just want something taht's going to be quick. Since you're not looking for a track car at all, I would honestly just suggest saving for a vortech or some other reasonably priced blower and running 8-9 pounds making just at 400 hp....

agreed.  sounds like he just wants a fast car.  i would try to get a blower with an intercooler so you can squeeze out a little bit more boost without worry of detonation

+1  You do not need to rebuild the short block to have a nice quick daily driver.  If the motor has been well maintained, a blower with a conservative tune should be OK.

why dont u just do h/c/i? leave stock shortblock alone and still have a nasty dd. h/c/i will sound sick, run sick, and will be better quality than stock sh!t. and if u still want more power THEN slap on your small boost blower and really get max gain out of it. (provided u swap to blower cams) i think in the end u will be much happier with that set up.

I'm retired Air Force.  I believe there just might be a better way to get the thread back on topic other than offending every veteran or active duty member of our armed forces.  You comment is particularly distasteful considering that our country is currently at war and our troops are currently in harms way.

Relax guys. Oxford is actually in Iraq. I'm sure he meant no harm in that comment.

You can unbunch your panties now.
