Well here's the deal.  I have a 99GT Vert, very mildly modified. Spec Clutch 4.10's o/r x-pipe flowmaster 40 mufflers and diablo tuned.  Its been almost a year since i've been able to do any new mods for it.  I feel like its time to stop with the little bolt ons and work on bigger issues.  I've heard about the 2valve heads being weak for making serious power as well as the stock plastic intake manifold.  I'm looking for any advice on brand/type of intake manifold, and what i can do with stock heads.  Thanks for your time, and any advice or opinions are welcomed as well as appreciated.  Please just dont state the obvious, LOL I cant do a 4valve swap.

+1 on the track heat.  Been running it for almost a year and love it.

Is it really worth it though? From everything I've seen on here and a few places, for the power gain on a hardly modified car, it's just not worth it.

your best bet (if you can do the labor) MIGHT be to take the heads off and get them ported and polished and then get a stage 1 or 2 cam and then the track heat. if you do got P&P make sure you take it to a respectable place

What kind of increase in HP will porting and polishing get, then again what will the stage 1 or 2 cams deliver?

it would be very easy to get an engine from a junk yard and salvage it to the point where i could send those heads out for work.  But now that i see the responses, would it be better to go with FI on a 2 valve engine?

yeah but do u wont FI on a completely stock motor???? or do u want h/c/i THEN fi? seems like this comes up way too much. but for the average joe blow who wants a mean steet beater, do H/C/I FIRST. then drive it a while, save up. and then swap to a low boost blower.

wouldn't he still be limited to the 400 rwhp or would he be able to run more horsepower? i only ask because his bottom end would still be stock and i was under the impression that the bottom end can only handle 400rwhp

hey oxford -

how's the difference in power with the trickflow manifold?  not necissarily hp/tq numbers...but can you tell if it pulls more up top?

also which setup did you get? the 75mm single TB or the dual 'cobra' TB setup?  Was considering getting a stronger intake once i get the heads/cams done, that can handle a larger giggle gas shot than the stock POS plastic peice....

yeah more or less. 400 rwhp is just an aproximate figure. but if he stayed around 6-9 psi there shouldnt be a problem. 400rwhp is nothing to sneeze at. thats a pretty damn stout 2v.

I think im going to do the FI first with low boost.  Then when the time is right i can get the low end built and then build the heads for low compression somewhere around 8.5:1.   But a 2V running 6-8 lbs of boost is still respectable on the street.  Also Im set on a Kenne Belle, doesnt that replace the stock intake manifold anyway?

I'm about to go with CMS stage 2 heads and cams with a Hardballer intake manifold... Maybe up the spray a little bit.

yes KB is the way to go. very well put together systems. the shop i take my car to doesnt use anything other than KB. if u ask what supercharger u should do, their first answer is KB. only if u dont have the money to do a KB to will they recomend a centrifugal.
