Three Nights ago I agreed to take my best friend to the mall late at night/early morning.  He was selling his Iphone on craigslist.  It's 12 40 am and im cruising in my red GT doing around 65-70.  There was no traffic what so ever.  As I was driving this guy with his girl friend in a black BMW next to me punches the gas.  We both were driving with our windows down.  As we approached the stop light the guy in the m3 ask my friend *HEY!? WANNA RUN!?*

My friend kind of scared looks at me and says *its your call man..*.  I yell *Yea! I'll run ya!*.  I rev my car to 1500 rpms waiting for the light to turn green.  As soon as the light changed you could hear loud tire squeals from our cars.  I did a perfect launch with not much wheel spin.  I got him by 1 car lenght out of the dig.  I slam my car into second gear and put another half a car lenght on him.  By the time I got to 5th gear I was beating him by about 3 and a half car lenghts.  I saw he wasn't gaining on me so I slowed down.  Went up to about 105 mph.

My friend was like *WOWWWWWWWW THAT WAS NICE!!!* all excited and what not.  The guy in the bmw rolls up and says *nice race man! my friend has a gt like yours and we're always neck and neck.  But you got me good.  You're a real good driver*.  So after we chit chat side by side for a bit with his gf smiling at us we part our seperate ways.  I know the M3 is a really nice car but I thought it could perform better.  It was a 99 though and maybe I was just a better driver than the guy.  Anyways it was a fun night to say the least.

As of right now I'm all stock. Going to get some 4:10 gears to start with in the very near future.  His m3 was pretty much stock too i guess. His exhaust definatly wasn't stock though. Other than that I dont think he had any other upgrades.

this whole thread wreaks of something rotten... with a touch of multiple accounts

it's true anything can happen on the streets, and true a new edge GT and an E36 M3 are right next to each other... 3-4 cars is pushing it but hey, anything can happen.... but this, this cannot happen

Yeah, the 105mph thing confused me too.  If he's racing wouldn't he be in the low to mid rpm's in 4th @ 105mph?

BTW, the E36 M3's aren't that quick.  mid 14's stock.  The E46 M3's are much better (00-04 style, although the sedan was available in 99 in the E46 style, but the coupes & M3 were still the E36 style in 99) look, handling and performance wise than the E36!

Good kill nonetheless!

an E36 M3 will ET and trap the exact same as a new edge GT everytime, they are high 13 second cars when driven at their best, they cut low low 14's @ around 99MPH quite often at sea level...

100MPH traps are an occurance in then as well

I was thinking the same thing.  Unless he has a set of 4.30's already in there, that just doesn't make any sense.

I know my car isnt stock, but I redline at about 110 or so.  Ive only pushed it up that high a couple times so.  I could see him shifting into 5th around 105 110 if hes already killing the m3.  Probably a typo however.

A stock E36 M3 is slow.  The E46 on the other hand is not too shabby.

Honestly I find it hard to believe myself.  He says him and his friend in his GT are always neck and neck when they raced.  Maybe he misshifted or something.  I did notice that he had alot of wheel spin at launch.  I think thats what got me those 3 car lengths.

Yeah, E36's arnt very fast.  A modded 04 GT shouldnt have any problems at all with one.

My thoughts exactly you morbid ****...you always seem to beat me to the obvious flaws (or in this case humour) in stories like this. In my opinion an E36 is a dead-nuts race with a new edge with the nod on the street to the M3 as they're easier to launch and pull harder as the tach gets warm. Just my 2 cents...
