So I am about to buy this black 04 GT which arrived at the dealership from Texas where I ordered it.
When I went to take a look at it, there were several notable points of wear and tear, most of them were just surface scratches which they could just buff up. There was also several paint chips above the driver's door handle and someone did a really bad job simply just brusing black paint over it. The dealership told me that it didn't meet their quality standards so before I buy it they would take it to a bodyshop to get it fixed.
They told me that it was hard to cover such a thing up especailly how the touchup paint is somewhat "sticking" out as it was just thickly brushed on. They would me that the body ship is going to sand down and repaint the entire door.
I've always heard that once you repaint a part of the car, it will never look like the factory paint and not match the rest of the original painted car. Is this true?
i doubt it, it should match up thats what paint codes are for.
True for the most part, but you gotta watch for paint fade.
Red is the worst, I relocated my rear wing on my'99 and it is a noticable difference because of paint fade from where the spoiler was bolted down, and I had a "tan line" from where the wing shadows the trunk.
Well I got to look at the car today and took a real good, 2 hour look at everything.
They did a really good job on the paint, the color is exactly the same and apart from the inside of the door handle-well being somewhat incomplete, it came out well. They told me that I cannot wax the car until a few days. I've read online that new paint shouldn't be waxed for 3 months. My dad said not to wash the car for 2 weeks, and not to wax until another 2.
So whats true? And exactly how prone is my car to dents and marks and stuff? Because I don't have wax. I planned to wash the car and wax it right when I buy it, but now I can't. I'll avoid driving it, and I can't even park it in the sun because my garage is underground. But sometimes I need to get to places and have to.
Oh and also, I realied that I have no netted-storage space inbetween my vanity mirrors, I thought all the Mustangs had it. Is it suppose to have one?
Oh and also, what makes an 04 GT a deluxe or premium? I really want it to be a premium but i'm not sure it is. All I can say is that is has leather seats, a mach 460, 6-cd changer, traction control.....
