I will race a Grand Am Gt in 3 weeks from here at a local track, I live in south Texas and weather is very hot in here, about 100 degrees in the afternoon sometimes. The track opens at 2 p.m. so we are going to be racing at about that time. I already replaced the 190 degrees thermostat with a 180 degrees one but I don´t see any difference. If I replace the one I have with a 160 will that help me to achieve better times at the track?. Last time I race this guy his water pump wasn´t working very good and his car was running very hot and that really helped me because I won most of the times so that is why the question, I will just use that thermostat in that occasion then I will reinstall the 180 degrees one. Btw it is a 99 manual and we have race in 2 different times, his is a 00 auto, firts time I got owned, second time he got.
Here is a video of us that night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4yxQF-Kogg he only uploaded the video where he won I won 4 out of 6 times that night. If you check his other videos you will see why we decided to go to the track lol.
Other tips?

leave the 180 one. ive heard the 160 actually will make the car run...rich, i believe?
if you are gonna race again, and give yoruself an edge, lighten the car. take out the spare, jack, rear seats, pass. seat, hood, any textbooks or laundry you may have in the car...you do that, youll save a lot of weight, should give you the edge. good luck.

Thanks, I will do that. Actually that night had lot of weight in the trunk and almost a full thank, that really gave me good traction but in the track I will not need that weight.

yes I will not need that weight racing in the track, already raced in there with half a quarter of the thank and had very good traction, racing in the street is very different, I will consider getting drag radial tires ands star moding the car as well, thanks.

close to 7 lbs per gallon of gas = almost 100 lbs you can lose off the car running on just a lil bit of fuel. will def. help you. good luck!

if he didnt know a difference thatd be terrible. id say the guy shouldnt be allowed to drive. reminds me of the guy who took my senior pics a few months back. i brought my car to take snaps with hes like "OOOOO nice car". I said, "Yeah thanks". He says something ill never forget..."ive never seen these newer mustangs, the look kinda like a mercedes." hahahahahahahaha i dont see the resemblence but needless to say i held my words.
