Racing against a Grand Am GT, help!

I will race a Grand Am Gt in 3 weeks from here at a local track, I live in south Texas and weather is very hot in here, about 100 degrees in the afternoon sometimes. The track opens at 2 p.m. so we are going to be racing at about that time. I already replaced the 190 degrees thermostat with a 180 degrees one but I don´t see any difference. If I replace the one I have with a 160 will that help me to achieve better times at the track?. Last time I race this guy his water pump wasn´t working very good and his car was running very hot and that really helped me because I won most of the times so that is why the question, I will just use that thermostat in that occasion then I will reinstall the 180 degrees one. Btw it is a 99 manual and we have race in 2 different times, hisisa 00auto, firts time I got owned, second time he got.

Here is a video of us that night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4yxQF-Kogghe only uploaded the video where he won [:@] I won 4 out of 6 times that night. If you check his other videos you will see why we decided to go to the track :D lol.

Other tips?

The 160 won't do anything for you. What are your other mods?

leave the 180 one. ive heard the 160 actually will make the car run...rich, i believe?

if you are gonna race again, and give yoruself an edge, lighten the car. take out the spare, jack, rear seats, pass. seat, hood, any textbooks or laundry you may have in the car...you do that, youll save a lot of weight, should give you the edge. good luck.

could throw a K&N filter on and remove the silencer, I have a CAI, but a lot of people here say that is just as good as a CAI.

I didn't say I was going to, I was suggesting that he could use a K&N for some quick/cheap gains.
