i found oil on spark plugs 7 and 8 what could it be, one thing that came to mind was piston rings or valve guides. Is there anything else that it could be. Thanks for the help....... if i where to drive it like that would it do anything major besides misfire. (big mustang meet this weekend i was going to be my first )

If it's only on 7 and 8, I'd be leaning toward rings or guides.  What kinda mileage is on her?  Depending on the severity of how much oil is getting in, I'd say you could still drive it to wherever.  I wouldn't beat on her too hard, and excpect to burn through some oil and foul a couple plugs, if not already.  I'd recommend taking 2/4 extra plugs along and tools to avoid being stranded.  As far as diagnosing, I'd start with a compression test and work off of your results.

I have the same Problem right now in cylinder 7 and i was told its the O-ring on the valve cover. They said its easy to pull off so i unbolt it and you cant get it around the shifter cable and all the damn wireing. it moved and and the seal fell out and i cant get it back in. Ford Techs at the dealership are damn retards. Maybe not all of them but the one i talked to is. Now i have to get the car towed in and have the gasket replaced. Im seriously gettin sick of this ford. Dont get me wrong i love my cobra but i cant afford to keep gettin it fixed becuase it happends to have a ford motor under the hood. Its only a good car for about a week at a time. I dont even drive it that often. I think they are riggin it everytime i take it in to make something else break. Its the techs that give ford a bad name...

sh@! I hope its something like a o-ring on the valve cover.....I wouldnt take it to a dealership. i would take to a shop that only works on high preformance cars. I feel that they take pride in there work even if its just a gasket

If it is not on the tip of the spark plug but it is on the threads and wire part IT IS the o ring problem. I just fixed mine a month ago you have to jack the engine up to get it out .I had to pull my engine out all the way to get my block repaired so I did it the long way.

yes, they're called plug well seals.  they join the valve cover and plug well.  over repeated cycles oh hot and cold, the rubber hardens, causing oil to seep into the plug wells.  Not a horribly difficult job.  pop off the valve cover and replace them.  if you're doing one, might as well do that entire bank while it's off.

lol my car must have been mad at me because without pulling the motor/ jacking it up this was harder than changing a clutch. My engine compartment just wasnt big enough to take the cover off all the way.
