Every time I get out of my car and go to close my door I get shocked! A hard shock sometimes too, I have rubber floor mats and leather seats so I dont think I'm building up any static electricity, and it only shocks my when I'm getting out of the car after I drove it, never getting in. Does this mean my car hates me? I havnt done any modifications to the electrical system...yet, so any ideas why this happens?

Shave your back and chest hairs. That should reduce the friction between you and your clothing thus reducing static build up. [8D]
Rubber actually reacts with carpeting to generate static. You can always get ESD shoes to dissipate static. Wind blowing across your skin can generate static if the humidity is low.

do you live in a dry area?
You might be building up static electricity with those floor mats.
Use it to power your car! If you want to go really fast you just rub a balloon on your head!

You have too much carbon in your tire rubber compound.
Get different tires with less carbon in the rubber composition.
Or carry a neon bulb and discharge yourself thru it to the stang
before getting in.
