I know we all have a tendency to do exactly what this person was doing,Maybe not under the same circumstances.I want everyone to know that I really don't care what you drive,We argue about what type of car is better and so on.I'm not sure if these pics have been posted in another thread but PLEASE USE YOUR HEAD!We don't need to lose anybody else to this.http://www.themustangnews.com/clubnews_08/st-0508mih110.htm

Was that a muffler delete? Oh.. yeah... thats pretty tragic. I suspect that traffic racing was involved... I NEVER cut through traffic... even if it means losing to a hornets nest.

Honestly did anybody catch the first part where it said the driver just got the car? I mean definite tragedy for both families involved, but there is a lesson here. Never drive a car you know you can't handle especially like that, and don't put anybody else at risk if you are going to race like that. It's a damn shame.

I lost my 14 year old cousin in a accident very similar to this one....She was into alot of sh!t and was 7 months pregnant at the time...Her boyfriend and her were speeding down a fourlane street with a median divider and he lost control and hit a metal lampost sideways with my cousins side taking the brunt of the impact...It was in a foxbody Mercury Capri and it was completly ripped in half from the firewall forward.........I guess things hav'nt changed on Mustangs with them ripping in half....Thats a very sad story that hits home

Very sad...not enough details to make any thoughts from it.
Trust me I've been at PLENTY of accidents and what the media/town says is normally no where near what actually went down.
..75-80mph?? I saw a pontiac sunfire ROLLED at 90mph that had much less damage just a few weeks ago... I wonder if any pictures exist of the crash site. Would be curious to see the skid marks, impact zone, area (curved road/straight road,etc)....

Yeah it sucks bad. A good family friend died about 15 years ago in a late 80's vette. He was ripping down a deserted street with his gf, and lost control at 90MPH, hit a telephone pole head on, and split the car right down the middle killing both instantly. literally the drivers side was on one side of the street, and the passenger side of the car was on the other side of the street. Very sad to see this stuff happen.
I'm glad the OP posted this, because I've been looking for info on that accident as I grew up around Lancaster. Definitely tragic!

He was new to driving a stick, new 300hp car and he was racing. Its very sad, but
Very said, but your right. To many people buy new faster cars than what they normally have driven and push the limits in stupid situations before getting to know the car first. A few days after I got my mach 1, I gave it a few runs on beach highways from rolls and complete stops with no traffic to get a feel for the type of power it has. This gave me a good understanding of the cars limits and my limits for driving it at the time as I had just upgraded from a V6 mustang. And again, we all know the possible horrible consequences of street racing and driving a lot over the speed limit.

well you guys have to realize that, even though he just got the car and was new to stick... did he realize that he couldn't handle the power? I know I didn't when I got my first powerful car... I was already driving stick for a few months and thought i was the sh*t..
Remember when we make that decision to street race, make sure we do it in the safest possible area.. While my heart goes out to the family of the lost, at the very least they didn't take any innocent people out.
Even though I do it; street racing is stupid and we all need to know that. if you decide to street race, be safe guys.
