considering buying a set of new wheels and tires form american muscle.....what did everyone do with the tpms? did you transfer it to the new wheel and tire or just "learn to live with the light on"......if you transfered it, how difficult was it? i have never seen the tpms in person......
No problem. NTB refused to reprogram my TPMS!!! I'll never do business with them again. Went to my dealer and they did it in 10 mins...
The TPMS is a strap/module that wraps around the rim. I purchased new ones with my Tirerack wheel/tire package. The new ones were expensive but I sold my old rims/tires with the sensors and priced accordingly.
Someone with a reprogrammer (NTB???!!!) can reprogram the sensors to you car.

idk what will be cheaper: change the old sensors over to the new rims, then mount and balance the tires or have the TPMS sensors already installed, tires mounted and balanced, then recalibrate the new sensors. any ideas?
or you could just press the reset button on the dash. do all the 08's have this reset button?

Transfer the sensors to the new wheels. The band kit from AM is about $17/kit. You'll need 4. There is 1 band, bracket and adhesive in the kit to do 1 wheel. You'll heve to have the old tires broken down from the wheels (or at least broken from the beads to get the sensor out; they clip into the bracket). My dealership did the entire job, including balancing the new wheels/tires and resetting the sensors, for under $40.00. Nobody was able to come close.

i am pushing the button.......too much extra crap to order and go to the stealership to have done.........so, i will press two buttons when i get in my car.....tcs(off) and reset for free..
I have lerned to live with the fact I have to hit the reset button after every start. it goes off and usually dos not come on anymore/ I would like to try the pvc trick of putting the old units in a pvc tube glueing the ends and pressurizing them to (whatever it takes 32-40) so the reciving unit still thinks all the tires are on and full. Dealership said they can not take it out because of govt rules = (suit) check here for sum more info and pics http://www.mustangforums.com/m_4856417/tm.htm I dont wanna break my stock wheels in the shed down. IM to lazy and mod broke
When I got my new wheels, I bought them online. I took the car and wheels down to my local Americas Tire, bought 4 Nitto NT555 tires, and drove off thinking everything was ok. I found out they forgot to transfer the sensors. I went back and they took the sensors out of the original wheels but the bands that they had there were too wide to fit. I was pretty annoyed and they ordered me up some for free, and not only that he refunded me for the lugnuts and the chrome air valves. Worked out pretty well and the car just recognized it after like 5 minutes of driving. No light since!
We bought some universal joint banding and used on mine when I swapped wheels. You can get it pretty cheaply, plus then just cut it to the size you need. Then you will be able to re-use them any time you ever swap again. It worked out just perfectly.

I got a set of 4 take-off sensors from (I forget who but found it in a post either here or tms.com) bands from American Muscle and the programmer from my Ford dealer (part number also found in the same post as above). Had a local shop mount, balance, and install the TPMS on my Razors. Worked like a charm. That way my factory wheels are still intact for when I want/need to use them again.

The 4 sensors came from DMS Inc. (NEWTAKEOFFS.COM) 4 for $50.00. You will have to call them because sensors are not listed on website. Phone number is 1-888-240-0025 Tollfree.
