powerlifting causes the barrel belly he's talking about...any other auxiliary lifting (dumbbell work and bodyweight stuff) doesnt cause any of that.  from my experience pullups are key...ive never seen anyone who was good at pullups and not ripped, it just doesnt happen

+1 +1 +1!!!!!!!!!

Pullups are the most amazing single exercise known to man. You work your entire body basically. Upper body strength for the pullup effect, lower body strength for stabilizing. Plus, if you bring your legs up as you pull up, you work everything then.

Pullups are awesome. I need a pullup bar.

No, power cleans are.

Sorry to inform you but you are wrong.
I lost 25lbs of fat in 6 weeks using that routine.

Working out hard DOES NOT BURN FAT.
It burns the sugar out of your blood. You are NOT burning fat while excersizing like that.

SLOW TWITCH muscles burn fat. Do some research on slow twitch muscles
vs. Fast Twitch and what each muscle type uses for fuel. ................

and you dont eat 5 meals a day. You eat more like 5 large snacks a day.

Thats great but that is NOT what this thread is about.

Thread is not titled   " How to already be in shape and get in better shape"

It's how to lose fat. Not "How to get cut"
I was fat. Not anymore. You try getting old and married and work 12+hrs a day 6-7 days a week
and see how "cut" you stay.

If you are already in good shape then a steady jog maybe where your slow twitch muscles
work. Most people trying to get in shape are not at that point though.

You need to lose some of the muscle between your ears and replace it with some brains

I lost 50lbs over the course of a summer, but that was because i completely ****ed with my stomach and metabolism.   I was pounding down green tea and AMP energy drinks, which would make it so that i didnt want to eat anything.  Then id just do my normal lifting routine.  went from 210ish end of senior year to about 160ish october of freshman year of college.

/\ r.barn is right that walking (slow cardio) will cause more of a fat burn than faster cardio and lifting.  However, weight lifting and fast cardio burns more calories than slow cardio.  The difference is that slow cardio will burn more existing fat while fast cardio and weight lifting will use more ATP and food calories resulting in less new fat being formed.

I just can't this sh1t off!  I've gained muscle, I'm way stronger and I'm getting big.  Then I see people half the size of me way stronger than me.

What are some good excercises to lose fat?

I've cut all liquids except water/milk from my diet.
I don't eat any candy or fast food.  (Subway is only fast food I eat)
I do chest, shoulder and arms (Monday/Friday)

I'm still having trouble with a cardio routine.  I like to walk because it's more peaceful and it's easier on my knees.  How much should I walk and should I walk everyday?  On lifting days I would like to walk 1.5 miles as a cool down from weights.  On cardio days I'm thinking 3 miles?

Another question is fat burners.  My mom takes them and slowly she loses.  I'm thinking with exercise I can lose a lot more, but which ones are good?  I'm 18 so I think I'm old enough.

The reason I want to lose is this summer a friend of mine wants to go swimming everyday, but I'm nervous because of the fat. It ****ing sucks when she has a drop dead body.

BTW: I am still configuring a weights routine for abs, traps, and back, etc.

get with me in AIM again.. i cant find your screen name on the buddy list.

Ah yes, everything I have said is complete ****.

Obviously the fact that I went from 250 pounds to 180 in 3 and a half months doing what I have told him to do means nothing at all.

did anyone go to the web site i posted, read the articles there.

Burn more calories than what you eat. simple as that.......that means you can lose weight with out even doing exercise, but you would have to eat very little, and if you are constantly moving and burning calories than you can eat alot and still lose weight just as long as BURN MORE THAN YOU EAT!

OP if you want to get cut, than eat between 3000 and 2000 calories and do 1 hour of cardio(running or walking up hill). you will see signifcant results in 3 months

Not true-  if I remember correctly you're the dude who wanted to eat stripper pussy, right?
That's probably why you lost so much weight!
Better get your arse over to a STD clinic pronto before you lose any more...

I eat all of that daily with my workout routine and I still lose weight, espessially pasta.... I actually have to start forcing myself to eat more because my ribs are starting to pop through

my metabolism is like an axe murderer

which leads me to my point... there isn't a diet or exercise routine you can tell someone to do and garuntee it will work.... over the internet anyways.

everyones body is different. everyones muscles learn different exercizes differently... along with everyones metabolism takes to different foods differently

eat healthy, indulge when need be and be active.... that is all I have to do to maintain being "fit", but not everyone can do that and some need to be ALOT more strict... everyone is different so stop saying other people are wrong because it probably works for their body

if I had to take a guess, my metabolism burns 3000-3500 calories a day... just sitting

I think if I did any of these exercises you guys are mentioning I would look like nichole richies long lost brother

you gave good advice actually. but there are more then a few people on this site that tried a under 800 calorie diet..

(cough) permanent damage to the metabolism is almost a guarantee not to mention organ failure. Everyone needs 1500kcal as a bare minimum just to be alive. sure you will loose weight but you will also loose power, muscle and hormone production.

calories in vs. calories out is fool proof but has some detail to it. Best bet is to eat a ton of food and run it off to stay bulky but cut. follow a 40 / 40 / 20 macro.
