Some require the different brackets, some don't. At one point, Ford changed the brackets. Don't remember when. If yours mounted up ok, you're fine.

To adjust the muffler, you'll need to loosen the clamp where the over axle pipe meets the mid pipe. Also loosen the muffler clamp. This will allow you to twist the over axle pipe. It takes a couple of tries, but once you get them lined up, then just tighten the clamps back up.

How do you like them? Love the sound of mine.

Sometimes you have to bend the hangers too. I tried with mine but they went off center. Someday soon I will take them off, cut the hanger and reweld it perfect.

That really shouldn't be necessary. If you are patient, you'll get them lined up using the method I said above. If your hangers are that off, you might need the other hangers.

What is the difference here? I'm confused. I know where the clamp goes on the back of the muffler where it meets up with the mid pipe. But what is this "over axle pipe"?

The axle backs clamp onto the over axle pipe. The over axle pipes go over the axle and meet the midpipe, which meets up with the exhaust manifolds. You want to loosen the clamp where the axleback meets the over axle pipe, and where the over axle pipe meets the midpipe. That way, the over axle pipe can be twisted.
