So yesterday I picked up a 2006 Mustang GT with 20k on the clock and It felt good to drive. Woke up today, cleaned the whole car I mean inside, outside, waxed and then went for a ride. I first noticed the gas gauge was going haywire and kept on going up and down. As I was getting onto the highway I was accelerating and the car started to like hiccup and I couldn't get any power. Pulled over to the side of the road and it felt like it was going to stall. Shut it off and then wouldn't start. Called the tow truck and was waiting for it for 4 hours when they decide to call my cellphone and tell me the tow truck broke down and said they didn't know how long it would take to get there. I flipped **** and told them to call me when the tow truck was there, had my friend pick me up and now im home. ARGH
Sorry just venting. What do you guys think the problem is? Fuel pump?
What has been done to the car? Any after market items such as CAI?
Were you getting any CEL warnings before it happened?

Maybe you got the dreaded leaking kick panel area and when you washed it you got that whole area wet. Bummer man, I feel your pain. Take it back and see if it'll fit up the salesmans brown eye.

When I picked it up last night I rode around for awhile and it did that hiccup thing once but I didn't think much of it I thought it was the traction control kicking in or something? Ugh, I'm just so pissed off.

Yes, it had an AEM Bruteforce air intake on it when I bought it.
And what octane tune is in there now? And what octaine fuel is in the tank? Did you get the tuner with the OEM Stock Tune when you purchased the stang with a CAI already installed? Hint, hint. Wink, wink. Any DTCs thrown?
if he drove before and it was fine then the intake was either already tuned or it doesnt need one. An intake that requires a tune will stall or idle very rough without a proper tune. Id say its a fuel issue. Car is still under warranty, probably will replace the fuel pump

I didn't get a tuner with the car. I bought this car from ford and it was certifed pre-owned. I don't really know why there is an itnake on the car though. I only put 93 octane in the car and before I put any gas in the car I felt it last night. No lights were on the dash. Just a hiccup and then I hit the gas and it made no power and kept hiccupping. When I took my foot of the gas it stopped.
I would definetly let the Ford Dealer that you bought it from fix what ever is wrong but I would keep the CAI; it does not sound like that is a problem. The most obvious thing is to lose that wrecker companies phone number.
+1 on the water leak, it comes in around the fuse box area and it certainly sounds like you are having some weird electrical issues

This is why I would NEVER purchase a used 2005 - 2008 Mustang without first taking it to car wash and running it through 4-5 times. Of course, I do not know of a dealer who would let you do that. I hope that Ford fixes the water leak with the redesign coming in '09 or 10.

Damn dude, I am sorry to hear that. If the car drove fine with the intake before the washing then the intake is not the issue, I am betting on a water leak.
