I have a 4000 stall, but i've been only been able to buzz up to between 2800 and 3200 before the tires break loose.
is there a trick to this or is my stall just not working correctly??? help me out

Get off the street tires and get a set of sticky tires.

tires make all the diffrence in the world, if you have a 4k stall its not gonna hold till 4k maby 3800, and if your tires arent wide/slick/sticky enough to hold your car at the line then yea its gonna nose over or spin a bit on ya, try staging your rpms lower or bringing them up slower, the hard you bring your rpms up the more fluidis spining into the converter so bring your rpms up slower and see if that helps

Yes the new tires are going to help, your problem is not having tred, just because you have a 4,000 stall doesent mean your not making power till 4k

foot braking does not give true stall speed.
if you had a transbrake or manual valvebody you can tell your true stall.
"flash" stall is leaving the line off idle and going wot, as soon as the rpms "flash up" and then it slows down and the car really starts moving, thats flash stall.
foot braking may only get you 500-1000rpms less than true stall. my 3500 stall only foot braked to 3k, which is normal.
punch it from a dead stop and see what the converter flashes to, i bet its around 3800.
tq. converters wont be exact in most cases to what they are rated at, many variables play into the stall speed.

alright, i'll see what it does, and i know it wont always be exact on what its rated at but i just thought i should get a lil more out of a 4000 stall then 2800

sticky tires make a difference along w/ good brakes.
i had 3.27's & 26.1in mickey t's et's so it stuck pretty good.
this new converter i got b/c the old 1 burned up :( it only flashes to 2500, and foot brakes to 2k :(

2 big things in stall... it is advertised... so basically a suggestion based on a 3600+ lb car making 300 hp
the lighter the car... less stall
the less hp ... less stall
+1 my old aod i did a 2200 and it felt stock
