Water isn't really going to do a whole lot, but you can go for it if you want. I'm not sure what you mean about picking it up. Windex may streak and make you think you see scratches. Though, water wont clean dirt out of scratches as well as a cleaner would, so you may still miss scratches. RE: Best way to clean a windshield - 5/18/2008 1:42:46 AM    07 Shelby GT Posts: 193 Joined: 10/22/2007 Status: offline I agree about the invisible glass.  Pretty good stuff, but I use newspaper to wipe it off.  I know it sounds crazy, but newspaper is the best stuff I have found for use on glass.  It is abrasive enough to get that strange film you sometimes get on windshields.  Simply loosly wad it up and wipe away.  Give it a try.
