Default gauges died and came back?????

This is the second time this has happened in maybe a month or so. today at luch I took a quick ride to the bank. While in line at the drive thru all of my gauges just died, like I turned the car off or something. The car did not stall or cut off, the radio was still on but all the gauges went dead. Then a few seconds later they all came back on and the chime sounded. The chime was the same chime you hear when you get into the car and put the key in to start it. Has any one else had this happen?

once my dads 2006 mustang all the gauges went off, then the radio, and the windows. It ended up being a battery saving feature our cars have because he ended up with a dead battery a few hours later .

Check for wet carpet or moldy pad on the passengers side by the SmartJunctionBox.
Could be the dreaded underdash Water Dispensor option some S197s have. []

Check voltage with a cigarette lighter power adapter and a VOM.
Should be 12.?V no load
13.8V engine running

I hope this is not the problem but it sounds like it could be. We've had a ton of rain the last few days. I'll check when I get off work today. thanks
