Default clutch install

hey guys just wondering how much I should offer a friend to install a new clutch and flywheel. I know I can expect about 400 at a shop. What would be fair?

Are you helping him? Is he gonna do a good job? How about doing some sort of trade instead.

If it's simply cash being given for a guy who isn't a certified mechanic but will do a good job,, I'd give himaround $300, clutches are a PITA

If its a friend, I wouldn't charge money. I'd rather do a trade, but even then with my friends, it is not necessary. You help each other when you can. I helped my friend put a new stroker in his car, he gave me his old engine, which was still good. I didn't ask him for it, but he wanted me to have it for when my engine goes (Im at 197K [8D])

Hes been working on cars for years and was close to finishing auto school but had some family issues. He's a camaro guy so there's not much to offer parts wise and I'm on vacation right now so I won't be helping. I just dont want to lowball him cause he'll accept anything. Maybe 150-200?

If he's got the tools & theskill & the time, meaning he doesn't need to STOP doing something else where he'd get paid better $'s, then sure $200 wouldn't be unreasonable, as long as he's willing to accept it.

For CLOSE personal friends I'd do a clutch job for free. But if it was forsome guy who's just sorta a buddy that I'm willing to help out, $200 would be a starting point.
