on my way home from work today when i encounter a goat in the lane next to me.  i look over to find him staring at me then gives me the nod.  we were cruising at about 50 mph and once i see the nod we both shared a mutual understanding of what was about to go down.

so we both punch it simoultaneously and no one gets a jump/advantage.  we were just side by side dead even from 50 mph to about 100 mph when we had to shut it down due to traffic.  but this was the closest race ive ever had.  it looked as though we were just parked right next to each other the whole time

when we stop at a red light we both acknowledge each others car and the race that just took place.  i also found out that his car was a 2006 ls2 gto 4spd automatic

Review:

2005 Subaru Legacy GT
     vs.     2006 Pontiac GTO
Manual Transmission                  Automatic Transmission
no passengers                          no passengers
3400 lb curb weight                   3800 lb curb weight
Mods: catless turboback            Mods: bone stock
exhaust, intake, and a
dyno tune at 270 whp
and 303 wtq

please feel free to comment.  how did i do?

I think you did good, as far as a manual gto it may get a little more tricky, with a good driver he should pull a little. Might want to resize your pic bro, I don't wanna see you get flamed >.<

Nice car. I've always been a big fan of the Legacy GT.

ok just to clear things up, the legacy GT has the same 2.5L horizontally opposed 4 cylinder engine as the STi.  however, the comparison ends there.  the STi has a slightly larger turbo and interooler than the legacy and a very good 6spd tranny vs the 5spd that i have

and Morbid Intentions explained why it is difficult to launch an AWD car.

i think they might but i wouldnt put money on it.  oh and another big difference between the legacy and STi is the curb weight.  the legacy weighs a good 300 lbs more which i think is a good thing because some of that weight comes from the interior which is the reason i bought my legacy.  with that said, i would not mind an STi at all for maybe a weekend track car

Who wouldnt, But I really respect your legacy man it's a sweet looking car, and it's different. You don't really see too many running around let alone pushing the horsepower yours does. Props bro!

thanks alot man!  and while my legacy is decently quick you would be surprised at some of the legacy's ive seen at local subi meets because they have so much work put into them.  and the thing i like is that they are not very fast-looking.

at a local meet i met a guy who i thought had a completely stock car based on the exterior of his car (wheels, suspension, exhaust etc.) until he pulled out a dyno sheet of 500 whp!  then he started it up and it sounded like it just came from the dealer and it was a hell of a ride.  in 4th gear it felt like a takeoff in an airplane.
