Your engine may be capable of going 200 mph...in a car shaped like a bullet. A foxbody will not allow those speeds, aerodynamics play the major role in not being able to go that fast.I dont think you have enough power to get your car that fast. I'm not knockin ya,just being realistic.Nothing really to do with being scarred, just some folks have better sense;).

you can go 160 on 2.73's, just with alot more horsepower that you are not making.

you car with stock susp. at 160-170 would be terribly unstable and you would most likely crash.

Sorry droptop but your not doing 13.5 in a 1/4. Not with your small bolt on list and 2.73's. People with 3.73's struggle with 13.5's with small bolt on's. Lets see a video of that pass;)

lol, i had 2.73's with my current set up, once you hit 110, the top starts to catch air, and it it gets a little iffy.

maybe if i had more road, and the top down i would have taken it higher, but its not like it was pulling like crazy like this guy is saying.

Your vert doesn't weight 3000. Most hatches (that are lighter) are not that light. Mine on the other hand is but its an 83 and has pretty much nothing in the interior.

your mustang will not do 160 -170 mph not when it first rolled off assembley line then and not now in nearly stock form......145mph was top speed..they just ain't got any balls after that!!! much less a length of road staight enough to take the time to let it hit that unless of course your on route 80 in the middle of Nebraska or Wyoming;)

I'm gonna call bs on that. I think that really depends on what kind of shape your parts are in. My '89 gt feels incredibly stable at high speeds with stock suspension, I had my car at wot from 2-5th over a 2 mile stretch when racing a bike on the interstate. On the other hand a friend that owns an '86 GT feels like it's going to fly into a ditch at any moment above 90mph. My car was like that aswell till I replaced the ragjoint & got an aligment then I felt just as comfortable with the speedo buried (which isn't hard to do.. wrong speedo gear :D) as I did at 60mph. In any case anything over 100mph still feels very stable.


As for the 13 I'm not going to say it didn't happen because I really don't know. I recall there being an article on what it took to get a mustang into the 13's in one of the magazines. They pulled it off with out any hard parts, but it required taking off the belt & I believe radials... not sure about the rest. I run 12's on street tires but I definitely have a bit more than just those few things (no udp's or cai though), but I won't say it's not possible. That mph is very high though... especially since you had no spinning. Got a slip by chance?

it was with gtac pro going to the track friday i will post my times. i know for a fact i hit at least 155mph on long stright part of i95...no vibrtaion at all in my fron end just a little in the drive shaft... car drives so nice its in relly good shape:D

i got a damn 92 GUTTED GT. its running a 408w with 70# injectors, weiand 4-71 blower, .250 dome pistons,afr 185's, trick flow custom cam,TKO 600, 2.73's in its ass, and i can barely bust 150 TOPS. i doubt that it will go that fast any more (at least i know i am not gonna go over 100 in that POS any more) its running coil overs and a tubular k member up front and im not that brave man. in the salt flats 3 yrs ago, it did 150.115mph... 5 mile stretch. talk about butthole puckering. yea. F!@# that!

got the weight right here at work... Caterpillar of Savannah... really acurate scale and did you not read carefully??? i got NOTHING in my interior but rollcage(thats why the car is so heavy now), steering column, sheetmetal dash/panels, and seat. thats all. no speedo there to be wrong. i get my readings at tracks. and as for the 150 mph reading, i got that it the salt flats right after the build was complete. maybe you dont know how they figure the speed there... its an average of your 2 runs(there and back) i may have done 160 there and 140 back... idk what full speed actually is b/c im not a daredevil. screw that. you cant work on cars and show em off if you are dead.

I think you have something very wrong with your car if you can't hit 150mph.. Is that gear limited?

Stock in good shape you should have no problem getting over 140mph. I've been over 155 in my car based on a radar & still was gaining rpm slowly. You should have no problem beating that.

of course not. I don't obey by the rules of the road so to speak, but I built my car to have fun with it. I personally see no problem with playing around in your car providing there's no one around to get injured if you lose control & no property to get damaged. I do slide corners even after over 5 years of owning the car but I won't do it when there are cars or people around.

It's one thing to drive the car you own because you love the feeling of playing in it, it's another to do it in a way that will endanger someone else.

I've had my share of losing control. I've even drove into a ditch, but that's the reason I bought my gt. Parts are very cheap for these cars & due to the 4 banger ones in junkyards fenders/hoods/ect.. are cheap. I drive it crazy sometimes & i'm not stupid enough to say i'm not going to wreck. I very well know the ditch isn't going to be my last wreck, but what's the point in owning the car if you cant play.

In any case if I do wreck it's a good learning experience for learning some body work. Case & point:

Total cost to fix it & paint: $280. That's what i meant by cheap :) The only thing I didn't do myself was have it put on a framing machine to straighten the frame. $180 (which was included in the cost) The replaced lights & everything else is in the hatch in that pic. It's been together & running for quite a long time, just don't have a new pic. Not bad for hitting a concrete culvard at 30mph & fixing it myself knowing zip about body work or painting before the experience ;)

150mph ON AVERAGE is not a hard thing to get with the right road. I've been 140 in my brother's 92 he had with minor bolt ons and 3.73's but there wasn't much after that.
