Hi all, I have a 95 GT with AODE.  I live in Phoenix AZ and as many of you know, its damn HOT here (115F to 120F tops).  I plan to upgrade my stock radiator to a fluidyne 2 row aluminum radiator, but instead of using the integraded trans cooler, i'll be buying the trans cooler separtetly!  I need some opinions on to what you guys think.  Is this a good idea or should I just get the fluidyne with teh integrated cooler??? here is the link for the trans cooler I wanna get.  any help is appreciated!

I think that you should get the largest external cooler you can possibly fit in there... if you do that can you get the radiator that del the integral trans cooler?

In my 1991 I was also able to add a large but thin auto trans cooler in between the ac condenser and radiator part# DERALE 13504 Series 8000 Transmission Cooler Kit: 22500 GVW

Good luck

fitting the external cooler in between the condenser and radiator sounds like a good Idea, but the cooler I wanna get has its own fan, and its pretty big too!  It gets so damn hot sometimes my tranny will slip from gear under 50% throtle or more.  Thats why im serious about cooling!!!

If you can fit it great, but can you fit something like that?  Also what is its GVW rating for comparision purposes?  I would still recommend the large flat cooler, but you can also add capicity to the system with a deep pan, also there are cooling methods associated with the pans: tubes, fins, etc

IF your trans slipping has it become damaged?  Was it already damaged, how often have you changed the fluid and filter

Since you're in Phoenix, you might try http://www.rondavisradiators.com/Welcome.htm
Pricey but nice. A cooler is always a good idea, but make sure you have room.

Im not sure if the transmission is damaged.  How would I be able to know?  The funny thing is that it will slip from gear only during summer.  If if floor it when its cool outside, there are no problems with my tranny.  I should mention that the previous owner installed a shift kit on it.  This is the main reason why i think I should consider a seperate cooler.  Im gonna change the fluid pretty soon.  If im correct, I need to put in Mercon 5 full synthetic fluid right???

Thanks for all the tips guys.
