I wanted to know what the average life for the stock struts and/or shocks are on our Mustangs? I thought it was about 75K but I'm not sure. The reason I'm asking is because I think mine are ready to be replaced possibly. I haven't physically looked today but the ride makes me think so. Going over bumps and turns, etc. Does anyone know the usual mileage that these need to be changed? And any aftermarket recommendations?
Is the car bouncing up and down? One way to test is to go one of the four corners of the car, Then push down pretty hard and see how many times the car goes up and down. It sould should pretty much stop after coming up, I believe if it bounces 3 or more times, the shock or strut is bad
Get the Tokico D-specs or Koni's and any aftermarket spring you like for the drop and all problems are solved. Test the shocks like the above said and if they rebound more than once I would replace. I am not a mechanic but shocks/struts on other cars I have had when they rebound when compressed more than once should be replaced soon (for obvious reasons... safety, better handling, less wear on other components). I thought you already bought some new shocks and struts and springs? anyway let us know what happens.... J

pushing down won't show much. Your stock springs are so firm you'd have to be the Hulk to press down enough. It all depends on the ride, how the car handles dips and turns.

The other day I noticed my car was leaning to one side. The front drivers side is about 1/8 inch lower than the passenger but the rear is much worse. The rear drivers side is about 1/2 to 2/3 inch lower than the passenger side. I didnt notice any leak in the shocks. I've checked on multiple street surfaces and the results are pretty much the same. Does this signify shocks going bad?
Hi J! I did replace the springs a couple months ago with Vogtlands. Only a 1" drop though. I didn't change the shocks or struts or lower control arms. Just got the alignment. I'll try that and also check for leaks as others have mentioned. Thanks
