A1SALEEN 05-12-2008, 07:29 PM Maybe a few of us should buy it and take it to Barrett Jackson....... If the new ZR1 brought a mill.. just think what that would bring;)
Jim D. 05-12-2008, 07:40 PM There's two of those at Techco/SMS Limited getting ready to run in ALMS. They are sister cars from the Oreca team.
Steve's in the lead car...

Red_Devil 05-12-2008, 08:27 PM You did, and its the only S7 with a dyno sheet to prove 1000+ HP. Tuned by JDM!
AmyVCTexas 05-12-2008, 08:35 PM I like the blue one! [8D]
One requirement and I'll buy it: does it come stock with a lighted mirror in the visor? [sm=kiss.gif]

Is that why the owner returned it after it blew up ?
Jazzer The Cat 05-14-2008, 10:04 AM Just read the info and.........IT'S AN AUTOMATIC[:'(]

unclemilti 05-14-2008, 10:33 AM I love the cheesy SALEEN manufacturing plate on the firewall.
You'd think for a million dollar car thay could come up with something a LITTLE different than what they put on a Mustang.
Red_Devil 05-14-2008, 05:25 PM Actually, the car did not "blow up", and the car has always belonged to Saleen. Some former employees that installed the engine failed to tighten the coolent hose and it came off during the test run. Nothing was damaged on the car and it was repaired the next morning. It was actually driven yesterday in Troy by a potential buyer. Sorry if your information was incorrect.
SCARY mistake on a $600,000 car.Maybe the new American Sunroof Company employees can keep those hose-clamps tight next time
Red_Devil 05-14-2008, 11:58 PM Even the best run into mistakes, like failing crash certifications for low cost import cars right?
If you mean Brian Chambers special projects team and Chuck Kellys engine team who have been involved with Saleen for years when you speak of sunroof employees, then sure. I'm damn certain they can clamp a hose. Thanks for your interest!
bigtone408 05-15-2008, 01:13 AM If somebody buys that Oreca S7R they should be aware they are only buying the chassis that Oreca used. There are several obvious Oreca upgrades missing from that car and the livery isn't even correct. A collector would want those accurately represented otherwise it is just a S7R painted in Oreca colors. If Saleen are planning a swan song in ALMS they will need those upgrades, that are not apparent on the car Steve and person 'x' are testing in that other picture, to compete against Corvette Racing and Prodrive.
AmyVCTexas 05-15-2008, 03:13 PM You mean the actual Oreca wasn't an automatic?? Well, that's just crazy! Why would someone want to race with a stick? [8D]

Cute!
TRUEBLUES7 05-15-2008, 10:27 PM Jared, you are right it is the only S7 tuned by JDM that is a 1000hp, but why is it the S7 that i bought has 1050hp and it was tuned by saleen with the dyno sheet to prove it? Was JDM called in because the head engineer had left Saleen by then?
TRUEBLUES7 05-15-2008, 10:42 PM ALMS, Where are you getting your info from? My dealer told me that the owner never took delivery of his car, becauseSaleen Inc could not get the 1000hp in time. I guess they were acouple months late.Do either you or Jared know what happened?I would like to take my car back to the dealer to have them inspect so the same issue does not happen to me.

Well its been 5 days since asking these two about what ocurred on that so called S7 that blew up. I have yet to hear from either one of them.. Its sad to see that Saleen Inc/ASC would not want to return an important question on a car of my caliber. Im not sure where ALMS works and or what he knows so i guess its not fair to blame him for his lack in response, but Jarred i see still works at Saleen you would think i would get some type of timely response.

Honestly, I don't see how you could expect me to respond to that query here on a message board. It would frankly be unprofesional for me or anyone at Saleen for that matter to discuss anything regarding any possible business interactions involving those cars here. I'm sure since you own an S7 you can understandably respect that. We have calibraters capable of tuning S7s at Saleen but we have had JDM tune a few of them with great success and so we opted to let them do it again.
I also have zero to do with S7. I work for Aftermarket. But if you have any questions about your vehicle, please feel free to contact me through the proper channels (I prefer email: Jared.Chavez@Saleen.combut you can also reach my cell at 949-235-9079) with your VIN number and I will get you any assistance you require.

Please recognize that this forum has no affiliation whatsoever with Saleen itself and is merely a collection of enthusiasts. People like Jared and Jorge and Spring take the time to frequent these boards to give us help not because they have to, but because they want to.
I wish you luck in finding other S7 enthusiasts. I haven't seen any on this forum yet. You're the first one...so post some pictures already!!!
