Default 1998 3.8 mustang

so the other day im crusin, and i notice the speedo is above 120 its in between 10 and 120 pointing at my feet....hmmm, i know i just replaced the VSS and its been fine...so i turn the car off let it sit for a second fire it back up and the needle reset...but the problem im having is that it reset underneith the peg that the needle usally rests on....what can i do to fix this? is there away i can do the sweep deal with the trip button? do i need to break the cluster face off? please help before i get another ticket

Dont go over 120.

Just kidding.

You can take the gauges out without "breaking" anything, just the same way people convert to white face or put inserts in their gaugepods. Then just pull off the needle and reset it
