Looking to get a PC, need advice.

As it states, I'm looking at getting a Porter Cable to be able to do a good detail job on my car. I'm looking around and trying to figure out which to get. Found this one: http://www.cpoworkshop.com/polishers/7336sp.html and want to know if it is a good deal and the one I would want to get.

Is the 7336 model the one I want over the 7424? Anything else I would need to get?

Thanks for the help.

The 7336 comes with a different counterweight and is also now discontinued, but it is the same machine.

You will need a backing plate to accomodate the foam pads and then you will need polishing, cutting and finishing pads. I have PC kits that already have all of this together and I even have them with the polish/swirl removers included. You same more money getting the kits plus you get an additional $10 off the PC kits since you are a member here.

I've read some stuff about using a 5" or 6" counterweight depending on the pad or backing plate you use. I'm a little confused about it. Have any idea on if I would need to change anything, or would the package from your site be just what I'm looking for? So you have an idea, I need to clay the car, then I have swirls and scratches I want to remove and finish up with a good polish then cover in a good wax (I have a good airline wax I want to use so I don't need a polish that contains a wax in it). Which kit do you suggest?

I would suggest going with my Porter Cable/Optimum kit, this is the best kit for the money and performance. The Porter Cable I carry already comes with the counterweight that goes with the backing plate I sell, so you are ok there.

I carry an 8 oz claybar that is double and triple the size that you can get over the counter. I also have a kit that has the clay lube and claybar together.

After using the Optimum polishes with the PC, I would recommend going with my Wet Glaze for a lot of depth and wetness, then you can top that with the wax that you already have.

yeah, def buy a kit from justin. he has the kits that have all the polishes/pads/backing plate. all you need after that is a clay bar and the wax of your choice. i ordered a kit from him a couple months ago, and couldnt be happier.

See if Rick at www.autodetailingsolutions.com has any G100s left. It's the same thing as a PC 7424 but it's got a lifetime warranty since it's got the Meguiars stamp on it.

Will the Obsessive Light Polish be enough?

Depends on how bad it is. I remember you talking about it, but don't remember the thread. The light polish will get light swirls out. If you've got lots of swirls and need more work done, you might want to get something with more cut also.

I was hoping to give it a try this weekend. Does Meguiars sell anything over the counter? I have their cleaner wax, Step 1 & ScratchX.
