Default will it really hurt my tranny

i was talking to my friend today and he said tuners and chips are no good. he has a 2005 ford f250 and he had a chip done for it about a year ago and last month he had to have his transmission rebuilt. he said it was because the chip messed it up and he said that it will do the same thing on my mustang. i want to by the SCT X3 handheld so i was wondering if anyone on here has had them for a long time and to they really mess up ur transmission.

btw i have a 2004 ford mustang 3.8L automatic

Just sounds like hard use when driving thats about it. Treat your car with respect and it will treat you with respect back. But that doesnt mean you cant have fun of course :]

He drives an F250, hes probably an idiot and can't find anything else to blame his faults on. That or he upped the shift pressure to the max on every setting.

Your tranny will be fine as long as you stay within reason on the shift pressure settings.
