red07Pony 05-12-2008, 03:13 PM Looks awesome! http://www.mustangforums.com/micons/m6.gif ...as quoted from Meguiars' website referring to NXT wax"This better-than-ever formula produces unbelievably deep, vibrant color and a dramatically clear wet-look." I think your car could be an ad for it. That looks amazing!
So I'm assuming you're giving the NXT high marks?? Whatkind of wax didyou use before NXT? I've been using the Meguiars Gold Class liquid wax and have been pleased. But I think when I'm finished with mine I'm getting NXT.
zkiller 05-12-2008, 03:20 PM NXT 2.0 is the best wax I have used ever since I started waxing cars in 1977.
It is light years better than the old NXT. Goes on easy and has great deep shine.
onederful100 05-12-2008, 03:21 PM so far the NXT is the best i've tried. i've also tried liquid lustre, zymol, mother's, turtle wax ice, and a few more that i've forgotten about. but yea, it looks deep and reflects the light well, i'm very pleased w/ it. i've never tried the gold class, but a friend of mine said that it is very good as well.
red07Pony 05-12-2008, 03:27 PM Well NXT 2.0 is what I'm getting next. Your car sold me!! :D
Unfortunately my Gold Class is a pretty new bottle though so it might be a little bit yet
Jokeurmnd 05-12-2008, 03:31 PM That is freaking nice. A few pictures even look like its a chrome
Steve O Chap 05-12-2008, 03:37 PM I just bought the Meguiar's Gold Class paste this past weekend and had great results from it as well... might have to try the NXT next time though! Your car looks great!

zkiller 05-12-2008, 03:49 PM I currently have a can of NXT, Gold Class and NXT 2.0 (and Zymol and Klasse) and my experience with the Meguiar's Gold Class is it works well but is harder to apply than NXT and way harder than NXT 2.0.
drbobvs 05-12-2008, 03:56 PM NXT 2.0 is the best wax I've ever used, and in the past 20+ years I've tried everything on the shelves, and even stuff from Car shows and some mail order only stuff.
After trying everything, I've thrown away and given away more wax bottles than most people have bought in a lifetime. I now only keep 3 waxesin my garage. NXT 2.0 mostly for justmy stang, Meguiars Cleaner Wax for the cars that don't get garaged, and TW ICE for waxing at car shows outin the sun. The only detailer I will ever use again is TW ICE quick spray detailer. Try that one once and you'll never go back to anything else, (even the Meguiars stuff), especially since you can detail in the sun or on a hot car just like their wax.

NXT 2.0 is the best wax I have used ever since I started waxing cars in 1977.

Do you think the NXT 2.0 gives the depth of color that natural (carnuba) waxes do? I like the original NXT because of its great clarity and lasting finish, but to get really good color depth, I have to use a basecoat of a good carnuba wax and apply the NXT on top 2-3 days laterto make it last. However, as far as synthetic waxes go I can't imagine how they could have improved much on the original NXT. Since theoriginal NXT is best single wax that I've used, I'll have to step up to the 2.0 when my can runs out.
drbobvs 05-12-2008, 04:29 PM They haven't really improved on the shine, it's just that the 2.0 is noticeably easier to remove and it supposedly lasts at least twice as long. (I wouldn't know b/c I wax my car once a month or so, so I've never let ANY wax "wear off").
pat123 05-12-2008, 04:42 PM I just picked up my new Black GT; is there anything that I need to do to the paint before starting to use the NXT? Other than washing is there any other prep?
drbobvs 05-12-2008, 04:44 PM Not if it's new like you say.
MELLOWYELLOW06 05-12-2008, 05:08 PM I was at Meguiars last weekend for a class on maintaining our cars and they informed us of the forums they have. They will answer all your questions and inform you of which products work best for your situation.

Others may dissagree, but I like to clay my car before I begin to apply any polish orwax. I would even do this on a brand new car.Claying will remove any overspray and contaminants that you can potenially seal onto the surface with wax. After claying, your paint (clear coat)is essentially virgin, and the wax will be most effective.
mygt500 05-12-2008, 08:24 PM I use the gold class but the stuff doesn't last at all but the shine and clarity and depth is amazing! Your car looks great!!!!!!

mygt500 05-12-2008, 08:27 PM I agree 100% and even if new they are not "NEW" as they may have been sitting on a lot for a few months before even being shipped to a dealer or being bought! Just me use clay at least once a year and before polishing and waxing! (unless you car just came from the paint and body shop with a show car shine;)) J

onederful100 05-12-2008, 08:32 PM thanks, i'm getting ready for a show this coming sunday and i was trying some different waxes and polishes trying to get a deep shine that looks wet, and so far this is the best i've tried. the only bad part is i was cleaning around the fender badge on the passenger side and the rag got snagged under the badge and when i stood up w/the towel in hand, i broke the fender badge in half. the good news is there's no dent or scratch on the body. i ordered a new badge but idk if it will be here in time for the show. but if it's not here in time, the show must go on.....
22Stang08 05-16-2008, 03:54 PM Well you sold me I purchased a can of NXT 2.0 last night and will wax the Mustang this weekend. Last weekend I waxed with a carnuba (sp?) wax. Is it ok to wax again this weekend or am I wasting my time? should I wait a while?
Dave
onederful100 05-16-2008, 04:04 PM if you want to add another coat, it will look even better. i will add another coat tomorrow too.
22Stang08 05-16-2008, 04:08 PM thanks onederful100.....what was the name of the paint sealent you used? (in the OP)
Jokeurmnd 05-16-2008, 04:09 PM Slightly off topic...is there a good thread on claying??? I want my car to shine thate nice
22Stang08 05-16-2008, 04:13 PM I'd try the Detailing forum (off of the Mustang Forums) Some good stuff there, but onederfull's post was the most helpful....A picture say a thousand words.

If the NXT has any cleaner/polishing components, another coat will only replace what's on the car.
"Eliminates fine scratches and swirls" is in the product description and makes me question if it contain cleaning elements.
A synthetic wax topped with a pure carnauba will not remove what you have and should add even more depth to your black paint.
My car has one coat of Wet Wax (carnauba liquid wax by Obsessive Detail, site sponsor.)

thanks onederful100.....what was the name of the paint sealent you used? (in the OP)
the paint sealant was from pacpro a local detailing shop, i dont think it's anything special. you could probly find a good one at a detailing shop where you live. i think the paint sealant adds the depth, and the guy there said you could layer it w/ coats for more depth, some people put on 10+ coats of it.
and margarita girl may have a point w/ that cleaner wax issue and it replacing the old wax layer. but it does dry to dull haze which makes me think that it will add another coat. but i will do it and see if it makes a difference. and try that carnuba layer on top too and see how it looks.
obsessive detail is great site, and autogeeks is another good site too.
and margarita girl, your car looks very shiny and wet looking, thanks for the carnuba detailing tip.:)
22Stang08 05-16-2008, 04:43 PM margarita girl, I didnt care for the wet obsession from obsessive detail. I use a bunch of his products and I love them. In fact I have it listed in the classifieds for sale, discounted, of course. I'm going to try the NXT tomorrow. We'll, not happy with my new cars' shine yet.

ThumperMX113 05-16-2008, 10:28 PM If you want a good wax for black try to get a hold of some Meguiars #16 ...
uluafishing 05-17-2008, 02:38 AM onederful100 -- you on Kauai or Oahu?
Are you checking out the all Ford show at Mckenna's this Sunday?
Aloha!
Jus Cruisin 05-17-2008, 05:06 AM Make sure the NXT bottle has 2.0 on it . The newest formula....I guess. I use and like it. I still take Turtle wax Ice for a quick extra shine when at a car cruise/show.
topbliss 05-17-2008, 07:04 AM toss the ice in the trash and get the Megiures ultimate quick detailer.. Its the perfect compliment to the NXT 2.0..

TPony 05-17-2008, 10:16 AM Not bad at all, well done.
jet21 05-17-2008, 10:27 AM Looks good!! Two questions: 1) The paint sealant, is this something you did or did you have it applied at a place that does it?
2) Is Meguire's NXT a product that leaves no white dust or white marks on mouldings?
WOW! That stuff is awesome! Nice job!
Whistle 05-17-2008, 07:00 PM jet21- I can't answert q#1 for you, but on number 2 I wouldn't let ANY wax touch black moulding (unless it's painted black of course). Some folks had told me NXT was fine over black plastic, but they were definitely wrong!
People have all sorts of crazy recommendations to get wax off black plastic, but it's far better to NOT get it on in the first place... ;)
eddypython 05-17-2008, 07:02 PM after reading this thread today I had to try it. Till now I would just use the NuFinish polish and it looked just fine..
But after sweating my butt off for about 3 hours of washing and waxing here's how it looks like.

Metal man 05-17-2008, 07:16 PM How about Poorboy's? Thats what I use and it works good on the redfire.

ThumperMX113 05-17-2008, 07:50 PM Poorboys makes a lot of good products. Which PB product are you referring to?
