I'm on my stock Pirelli's until my Goodyear F1 Supercar tires and 18" black Bullitts arrive. I got a good deal or I would have gotten BFG KDW2s or Nitto 555s. I go to the track occasionally but most of my driving is on the streets. I don't drive it in bad weather so I can use summer only tires. The Goodyears are used on the Z06 Corvettes so I guess they should be good for all around driving.

I have the Nitto 555s I think they are exceptional in the warmer months...haven't had them at the track yet.

Nitto also makes the 555s in a drag radial as well. Check out www.Nittotire.com

It does rain in NJ and it does get hot from time to time. DR's are not the hot tip for wet-weather driving (there have been a couple of threads describing peoples' misfortunes with this). And you'll use up the DR's best grip in normal streetdriving which seems really wasteful since it won't be there for you at the track long before the tread wears out (heat cycling affects tread grip). I'd look for a grippy pure street tire instead. The regular 555 may qualify here.

The BFG KDW II NTs come in 285-40-18 that that is virually the same height as the S197s stock 18 inch wheel/tire combo

I am running those out back (on 18 by 10 wheel) with 255/45s up front and like them

Only got one track run in with them so far but pulled a 1.9 60ft- think theyare a great balance for regular wet/dry street driving with occassional track visits

And they have a good treadwear rating so they will take some punishment

I believe that if you get caught in the rain you could get in trouble with those

I have been in the rain with my Nitto DR's and had absolutely no issues...this is of course not trying to drive it like I stole it...which with my power I wouldn't do in the rain regardless of the tire I was running...but I didn't have any issues in the rain if I just drove the car normal...when its cold outside, thats a different story...you definitely need the tires warmed up or you will have issues then...the one thing to note about the Nitto DR's that I didn't realize until this past weekend at the track...you REALLY have to burn them or they won't get sticky...
