I am finally joining the MP3 craze and working on converting my CD collection over to MP3.  I am going to load up 6 cd's with a crap load of my favorite tunes to stuff into the shaker.  I know in SHUFFLE mode that it does not jump between disks, but will it jump between folders?  Right now my music is saved in Artist Folders, then sub folders for Albums, and then sub folders for the songs.  Will the head unit read down 3 layers of folders like that and shuffle between all the artists, or will I be stuck in one artist during shuffle?

Good question, sorry I have no answer. I just made a CD with folders. I'll have to try it out.
Well, this is a useless reply. I can test it on my lunch but I'm sure some already has the answer.

No problem - let me know what you find out on your lunch break if nobody chimes in before

look in the 'how to' section, there is an MP3 post up there by odiaz....

i just 'searched' and also looked at the various FAQ's and now I can't find it.

A couple of weeks ago there were a bunch of real helpful radio threads. they talked about turning on the RDS feature etc. Sorry, bro that I can't find it, but it is out there somewhere!

Sorry man, I looked up there but don't find it

So does ANYBODY know if the Shaker Unit can shuffle between multiple folders on one disc or does it only stay in one folder

I'm burning discs tonight and would really like to know before I spin my wheels (no pun intended)

it can move between folders...put the songs in different folders organized the way you want them.

MP3s tend to get stuck in the skipper 6 disc units.
Beware. CD-Rs are not the same quality as pre-recorded CDs
and tend to hang up in the mechanisim after a while.

Ok, just went to my car. I have an MP3 with about 8 folders. Pushed "Shuffle" the display displayed "Shuffle On"
Currently in my "Tesla" folder. Pressed skip, skip, skip and it only shuffled songs within the Tesla folder.

Answer is NO. It will not shuffle between folders.

I don't remember all the details, but here's a link to a tutorial on burning mp3's for the Shakers. Great info and fairly detailed.
http://www.cherod.com/mustang/HowTo/ShakerMP3.htm

It should answer any of your questions.

Good folder to get stuck on, though.  :D

Shuffle is an automatic feature though....you were pushing the SKIP button which will move to the next song within the current folder.  I tested last night, and when left alone and allowd to move between songs on its own, it moved from folder to folder

You know, I was going to mention that I did NOT let it shuffle on its own. Didn't think
it would matter. Thanks for taking the extra few minutes to test it thoroughly. It's
obvious I'm impatient.
