My co-worker owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima SE and I was wondering how the 4.0 mustangs would match up?? Straight away race, no curves.....
What are your thoughts?
The 2006[/b] Nissan Maxima[/b] is a luxury mid-size sedan that aims to be sportier and more upscale than it's closely related Altima sibling. It offers two trims, both powered by a very responsive and powerful 3.5-liter, 265-hp[/b] V6 engine.
howarmat 05-12-2008, 09:18 AM i am going to guess he is going to smoke you
55 more HP, roughly they weigh the same as you.....and you got 20s
Wishbone 05-12-2008, 09:27 AM Yeah those maxima's are pretty fast! The Japenese just know how to make a more sophisticated V6 with better gas mileage and more hp.
ODDYSEY 05-12-2008, 09:40 AM Without gears/tune you will lose. With... it will be close. The Maxima's are no slouch, and without some sort of performance parts, and the 20"s he will get you (unless he doesn't know how to drive)
kevinmalec 05-12-2008, 10:00 AM Yeah, that's what I assumed.
I just wanted to hear what others had to say.....
Appreciate everyone's honest feedback!

So_Cali 05-12-2008, 02:40 PM If those Maximas are anything like a G35 (Which I assume are pretty close considering they are in the same family) Dont even bother trying it LOL they accel like no ones business and keep a pretty good top end speed.
Go race a Civic instead LOL

this is actually good advice, lol !
addison85 05-12-2008, 04:20 PM I really doubt anyone in a Maxima would ever want/should race. Plus, a tuned V6 with a few bolt ons should be able to take it on. Plus we're about 300lbs lighter. I know I can dust them (G35s and Maximas) with my 3.73s and Race tune.:D
howarmat 05-12-2008, 05:00 PM They weigh within 100 lbs of each from the data i looked at, so a tenth slower for the maxima maybe....not much
So_Cali 05-12-2008, 05:04 PM Somehow I still doubt that Addy but, I have yet to experience 3.73s much less the legendary Race tune LOL so IDK about it. When I get the race tune, Ima take on mamas G35 and see what the result is LMAO!:D

You have no idea what you're missin out buddy! It feels nearly as quick as a stock GT...nearly. And remember, that our TQ curve maxes out early, @3500rpm which is a huge advantage. That's why those new 335i's are so god damn fast (i'd get one if i was 10 yrs older hah)!!
So_Cali 05-12-2008, 06:53 PM Believe me brotha, I'm saving up my pennies on a mission to get that Race tune LOL from what I've read on these forums they give it a G35 feel and if thats true then I'll die a happy man (Much much much later on of course LOL)
I test drove a GT not too long ago and it has pretty good pep, even with that much I'll be happy:D
Sancho805 05-12-2008, 07:05 PM i think i'm ready to take on a maxima....[8D].....and it should be real interesting after i get a alum DS.;)
davesyo 05-12-2008, 08:26 PM I could be wrong but if the maxima has an automatic then maybe it could be a good race

that and they have twin turbo i learned that the hard way lol racing one of my customers
elroyjetson_1978 05-13-2008, 08:53 AM In a race against the new Maximas stock for stock you will lose. With the basics, CAI, tune, exhaust, gears + lsd you will keep up and should walk away at a strip but a roll race to high speeds and it will be close till you top out and it keeps going
Sancho805 05-13-2008, 11:55 AM i feel confident from a dig but not on the highway. i really dont care much for highway speeding/racing anyways. i'm addicted to torq [8D].
Vegasfilter 05-13-2008, 12:02 PM hey man..you never know unless you just do it!Race em now, and then race him after the tune.
addison85 05-13-2008, 12:29 PM Highway racing = just don't do it. Death wish.
SumterBoy 05-13-2008, 01:08 PM ^^^ Not if you know how to drive in traffic.

+1....if you don't crash, you end up causing someone else to crash.

youre an idiot if you race in traffic. its not that you "know how", its everyone else doesnt know what the fcuk youre doing, and you dont know what the fcuktheyre doing.
So_Cali 05-13-2008, 03:36 PM Probably the same guy that speeds through school zones LOL
xXxMUSTANGxXx 05-13-2008, 04:46 PM i had a little match with 3.5 maxima from 20-100 and i had it like a car or 2 they are fast i was shocked
landon.moss 05-13-2008, 05:16 PM highway racing is dumb...people that swerve in and out of cars are called idiots or dumbasseswhere i'm from...gotta love good ol' stoplight to stoplight though - i'm all about acceleration:D

did this happen with the mods that are listed in your sig?
MrSandman 05-13-2008, 05:57 PM I was behind a newer corvette on an a deserted on-ramp last night at about 12am. I knew he was going to give it some gas getting on the highway, so I preemptively floored it.. which was like going part throttle for him (I was matching his speed until about 55mph). He caught onto me.. and I have to say... it was humbling watching a car move away from you like you were standing still. Just thought I would share.;)
xXxMUSTANGxXx 05-14-2008, 07:54 AM yes i had all the mods on in that time so i was like hell no i have all this on my car and a maxima is on my ass so i ordered xcharger the next day haha lets see if the maxima is gonna be on my ass this time muahahaha
ptkthekid 05-14-2008, 09:57 AM A smaller motor with more HP........That'll pizz ya off!!! I don't know anything about maxima's but apparently you guys think there pretty fast. Note to self: do not race maxima.
addison85 05-14-2008, 10:46 AM Oh please yall, most likely that Maxima driver will have children in the backseat.:D

It's called defensive driving
Avalanch3 05-14-2008, 04:54 PM If no dragstrip is involved, find a pretty long road, smooth surface, very low traffic (or hog up two lanes and go very slow till there is enough room), then try it.
That way, if you crash, it'll just be you two :p
