they sound like freakin beez ugh so irritating, no depth or definition to the sound whatsoever. everything that i like about the way a car sounds, they lack.

to tell u the truth i dont like rx7 i think there ugly lol thats just me tho there good on gas i here tho

its carbureted to. its actually pretty ****ing deep at idle, although i havent heard it rev up yet, but at idle it sounds pretty good, it almost sounds like a motorcycle

but yeah, i think ill take a 5.0

the later model rx7's CAN look pretty sick, but as far as power plants go rotary=ftl. and from what ive heard they burn thru oil like no other. especially higher mileage rotaries. and to me they sound like dirt bikes but deeper. go watch a few rx7 vids and ull kno wat i mean.

The reason they burn oil is because it injects oil right into the combustion chamber to lubricate the apex seals. I have also heard of a few people that will take the oiling system off all together and run pre mix. They stop at the gas station, fill up and mix in the oil right into the fuel tank.

For the OP, I don't know much about the carbeurated RX, my first one was an 85 and that was carbeurated but didn't really tinker with it too much. The one I have now is an 86 and the first year of the fuel injection. I know they have problems with flooding because the computer doesn't account for engine temp properly, so if you shut it off without it being at operating temp, it will usually flood itself the next time you try and start it because it thinks it is at operating temp still.

I love the rotary, how many other engine can you take to 10 or 11000 rpms without burning it up? Sure it doesn't sound as nice as the 5.0 or a V8 period, but its "different".
