I've finally decided to start my disc conversion on my 66.
This is the Duplicolor cailper paint system. I much prefer it to the rattle can caliper paint I used on my Nova.
This was just a single coat. I put two more after this pic was taken but the camera batteries died :\
Spindles and rotors assembled.
I fabricated a bracket out of a left over piece of angle iron. by my measurements it should line up pretty close to the stock location of the rear brake line.
Then hit it with some basic black.
I've been messing with a tubing bender and double flare tool on some old brake lines from a previous car. I'm not ready to tackle some real flares just yet so I may purchase premades for now.

i like the prop valve hookup. I have my packet as well and starting assembly this week. I was planning the same way. Assemble spindles, bearings, rotors ... everything So I can just swap it in car as a whole. Can it be done without a vice, or will I need to buy one ?

Man that is gonna create quite the crowding situation on the drivers side in your engine bay, but will be awesome! Disk brakes were one of the best upgrades I ever did. The swap is not too bad and is pretty fun to do. What size engine is in your compartment?
Yeah, it'll definately be crowded but probably not much more than it already is. It's a stock 289 w/power brakes so I wanted to keep it that way. I'm really only getting an extra bowl under the hood
I haven't run across the need for a vice yet. I just used the trusty hammers you see in the rotor pic above with a block of wood. I wish I'd got some pics of the rotor build up but without batteries I couldn't When I purchase the new brake lines I'll make sure to pick up some batteries and take lots of pictures.
The only part that's got me stressing is the coil springs. I HATE those things. When I did the Nova's I was so paranoid. I'm seriously looking into building a spring compressor like Daze has on his site.

Sorry about the delay, I finally got some time to work on this.

They look wet because I soaked them in brake cleaner to get the caliper lube fingerprints I made off the rotors. As you can see I made a mess on the blue caliper but I'll clean those with something less acidic.
The construction was simple but there were a few points (assembling the keyway) where an extra set of hands would of been nice. The first key slid in easily with a few taps of a hammer. The second was a pain to get in but once it started it only took a few good taps to get it all the way into place. They're very secure.
I've got some brake line and fittings on the way. I decided to build my own after a run in with a (insert major part's chain name here) employee that couldn't pass basic math. I feel more secure building my own lines than buying premade, off the shelf, built at a factory lines, from tweedle the wonder tech that didn't know the difference between 3/16 and 1/4.
have mine on the car since last weekend and I'm in the process of plumbing the lot at the moment. Might finish it off tonight.
Putting the brakes and spindles together went quicker as I tought. Started 12ish with a hungover head and was finished by 10pm the same day and can't say that I did much in the first hours apart from staring at the parts with glassy eyes ...
edit: oh and btw, please let us know if you actually have to drill the bellhousing. I have 6bolt bellhousing: C5DA-6394-A see: http://www.4speedtoploaders.com/bellhousingidchart.htm noone seems to be able to tell me in advance ;-)
