So after I went to the track last weekend it seems as though I cant get off an auto. I drove my dads 67 fastback w/ a t5 and did it in high 13's. Then ran my car with a new AOD automatic and seemed to have some troubles off the start. Just curious what is the best way when racing to jump an automatic with a 2500 stall?

I tried the brake idea but seemed to not make much of a diff. or am I just doing something wrong?

well if you built your motor to have power starting at 2500rpm you should be good.  If you have an almost stock motor then that is why.  Any stock 302(which i assume you have if it is stock and such) won't really be that great off the line, if you have a low idle cam, right rocker arms, and intake you should be getting off pretty good even without heads.  If you have HCI and right valvetrain to match the TC you should be getting off really good, if you have the TC or your motor in different powerbands that is why.  Our neighbor owns a 72 mach1 with a 393 stroker and a 2600 stall but he has too big of a cam in it so it's a turd.

What kind of trouble?  Spin or bog?  What did you run in it?  A 2500 stall seems kind of low to me(then again those motors don't rev too high).

A stock 351w is pretty lame.  My friend has one, in a 69 just like yours(except blue).  He has LTs+full exhaust, 9" with 3.50 gears and an LSD, and a built T5 and his **** is slow.  Best run was like a 9.6 at the 1/8th mile and the car doesn't have much more in it.
