?anyone?

would a steel frame out of like 1" angle iron work with sheet over top and a pickup and return tube welded on work as well as a filler tube?

couldnt be that complicated

thoughts?

It wouldnt be hard to make, but I doubt highly that such a thing would be illegal in some way... fuel cells have special baffles etc to keep the fuel from leaking out if you flip, and I think they need to be approved by a buttload of places before a company can cell one...

why not just buy one from summit that you KNOW will not fail? like, i see where youre coming from, but if your not a really good fabricator, id just be leary of makin one

lol, i completely forgot about baffles.......

oh well

i was mainly just thinking of what the drawbacks would be of making it out of steel, it will be in a street car, so its not like it would need to be approved by a sanctioing body of some sort,

well i couls make a steel box no problem, welding in the tubes would be tricky, maybe bronze welding them would be best

and i mean TIGHT budget, and this would be almost free, just needs to be big enought to make it frm gas station to gas station

I've been using fuel cells for 20+ in race cars........
The only 'baffles' in them is the foam plastic stuff...
I really doubt that anything you couls build at home would end up being any cheaper than you could buy one for......
I think that TIG welding and making it out of aluminum would be the way to build it.

well id mig it, i have angle iron and sheet at the shop

so it would be free basically

which is cheaper than buying one
