The bst pictures, the truck my buddy rented to take his g/f out for a fancy dinner, which we then abused afterwards

I'm not going to lie.
If You took these pictures with the intent of them looking very impressive then You failed.
But if You took them just to show a truck, toy car, cat, and tire then You won.

i didnt intend on them being amazing, my own camera is just a plain nikon 8 mp camera
this was like $1300 for just the body on sale, we wnt and spent like 4k at some show on stuff
i suck at using it, but like i was impressed with my picture of the truck, my hands shake a lot so i was surptised i got one that clear
and he rented it because it was his birthday, he wanted it to be fancy, and ther other option would be to take is nissan truck which is like a trail beater,

just took another one, the tabby cat was sleeping on the couch beside where im sitting right now, my mom set a pile of towels on the arm of the couch and the cat, my cat (the calico) always sits on clean laundry when left out,
what camera did you get? and whats your pops use for his biz?
currently my gear list is:
Canon 30D w/grip
28-135mm IS kit lens
50mm 1.4
70-200mm 2.8 IS
430 flash
im wanting to pick up the 24-70 2.8 lens but dont feel like dropping the $1200 on it yet haha. Currently my gear has its own insurance policy with everything adding up to ~$4300 (thats whats listed plus 2 bags and 3 compact flash cards, nothing else... i know its bad)

yea i love DSLR's ... being able to preview the picture is nice but the thing that kind of sucks with it is i find myself just snappin off pictures when im playing around and not being entirely technical when setting up the manual functions since i can just snap off another haha
4gb card i can fit anywhere from like 300 - 800 depending on how large of a file i save it as

the D200 is compared to the 30D in a way. or atleast they are related in a sense that they were last years model and the D300 / 40D are this years models having just come out towards the end of '07
get some photography books and read up on shutter speed, aperture,ISO, rule of thirds, sunny 16 and youll get a good basic idea.
oh and theres some CRAZY photography sites like there are car forums. the canon sight im on ( photography-on-the.net ) has many pro's on it that do nothing but photography for a living ... fredmiranda.com has a really good forum and then nikoncountry.com is a good nikon to my knowledge

Ahhhh. Gatcha.
SLR was a great change for me. I started out with a D40x and found that the controls were too tight. You had to enter menus to change basic settings like shutter speed, ISO and Ap. Very annoying. The D80 was much better and allowed for many settings to be adjusted without entering any menus. However, it felt small in my hands and was rather slow (only about 3 FPS.) The 40D felt much stronger and was quick as hell (6+ FPS.) I love it. Fantastic camera.

i think im going to stick with the hole
point and click method with my camera and leave my dad to his, hes been in photography for over 20 years, not even sure how long, this is his first dslr but hes starting to get used to the menus and what not
he also bought a massive photo printer
that ive been printing off car pictures with
which i think im going to get in trouble for eventually

i agree about the photography being a blast ... i love heading downtown chicago and just walking around with the camera. its funny the comments / conversations that get started when i have my 70-200mm lens with the lens hood on and im walkin around. the lens + hood is like 12" long then i have the extra grip on the camera so i can have 2 batteries & do portrait style shots more easily.
good times haha.
oh and if you havent looked into getting the grip for your 40D check it out. its about $200 but you get the benefit of using 2 batteries & it gives you a second set of controls so you can take a portrait style shot with your right hand in the same position as if the camera were in a standard landscape orientation (if that makes sense)
