I have a plane ticket worth $500 from a trip that got cancelled.  Since the airline wont give me a refund, I have to use this ticket before February of next year.  My girlfriend and I were going to try and go away sometime this summer, but we dont know where.  Where have you guys been thats a great place to go, we'd like something tropical, or near a beach somewhere, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that kind of a place.  So what do you guys have for me? Thanks.

probably should have mentioned this but I live in baltimore, so OC maryland is definitely not worth a plane trip for us, and we've each been many times, also myrtle beach wouldnt really be worth a plane trip either, i think its like a 7-8 hr drive, but hawaii sounds nice......what could I do in colorado? im in no way familiar with it........any other ideas?

Myrtle Beach?  Ugh... place is OVERRUN with white trash.

Try...

The Yucatan Penn. in Mexico; I spent a few weeks at a resort in Tulum that was AMAZING.  Cheap cheap CHEAP, and just SO beautiful.  Hotel had no AC, no TVs, no phones... and it was perfect.  Amazing food, amazing drinks... great.  Here is the place.  Our room was the covered balcony in the center picture.

You could also head up to New England, which is beautiful.  Have spent many weekends in Kennebunkport, MA, which is beautiful.  Try this place.

Those would be my recommendations... away from hustle and bustle.  And FAR away from Myrtle Beach;)

+1 on colorado. the world is 70% water, skip beaches. colorado is lovely in the summer and there is plenty to do there if you like the outdoors

Texas is nice....offers a lot of nice places to visit with much variety....

California is so nice.....beautiful beaches (the Pacific is indescribable), so much good shopping....

Hawaii is a very pretty place....perfect for flowers, sunshine, and awesome scenery......

I'm thinking I might head out to AZ and see what it has to offer.

Great time of year to go to Colorado. We are going next month. Pikes Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Garden of the Gods, etc. Man so much to see and do!

We also go to Padre Island, Texas quite a bit which is a lot of fun too.

ARUBA!

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand, with no bottom.
No shoes, no shirt, no problem.

we go to SPI every summer, that was going to be my suggestion.  i guess when you've gone for 12 or so years in a row you get used to it, but theres plenty of fun **** to do there.  it's cool how fishing is on the west side of the island and the beach is on the east.  still hot as **** if you're not used to texas, and theres a lot less to do (without $$$) if you don't have a boat down there.
