Suppose if I start doing internal work on my v6 Mustang. I buy myself stage 3 P&P heads, a custom camshaft, forged pistons, and new rods. What other internal work would I need to do to get to around 500rwhp on a v6? Would I need a new block? Imagine how bad*** it would be if you pull up to a GT500 in your sixxer and smoke it.

I imagine for the cost, you could've bought a GT500...

But where's the fun in doing that? People will see a GT500 and expect it to be fast, with or without mods.

Didn't say it wouldnt be fun, just expensive.  The block can only stand so much, there are pics of one blown out at the cylinder on here somewhere to prove it.  You would need a stronger block, clutch, transmission, driveshaft, rearend, suspension to go along with your new heads, cams, pistons, rods, crank, power adder, etc.  Why not just drop in the GT500 engine along with the required parts.  Talk about a sleeper...  and never open your hood...

Ford Racing sells GT500 engines for $16k, but I could get a 551 crate engine or a 347 with the boss 302 block for less than $10k.

I've been looking at supersixmotorsports.com they sell 4.0 shortblocks, built for high output, for $3450. Put in a 6-speed, replace the rear axle, driveshaft, clutch, and some other things. Slap on a turbo / supercharger at high PSI, tune, and you're set.

It will take a whole lot more than that to be able to smoke a GT500.  It is not worth the time, or money.

If you want 500rwhp, just look at getting a different engine.
