Big problem?

1970coupe -> Big problem? (5/11/2008 9:40:12 AM)

Well crusing out to the carshow last night i looked in my rear view mirror and saw smoke coming out the back of the car. I pulled over and i had tranny fluid leaking out of the flywheel. I noticed that i dont have an inspection plate down there so you can see the flywheel turning which was flinging fluid on my oil pan and pipes and causeing smoke. Im not sure how big of a problem i have here. Anyone experienced this before?

you sure its tranny fluid and not oil? either way your gonna need to pull the tranny to do it right. and the rear main seal would be a good idea while the tranny is out

yeah i thought it was a seal. If i pull that fmx out i am definetly not putting it back in.

eh its not that bad but a c4 is so much lighter and an AOD is nice too

1970coupe -> RE: Big problem? (5/11/2008 11:00:32 AM)

yeah. I would rather not spend anything on the fmx. Its been wineing and all kinds of wierd stuff. Its probably time to think about getting into a c4 or an aod setup like you said. I was looking into a rebuilt 5.0l fuel injected motor with trans to put in from a foxbody stang but im not too sure what kinda of mess i would be getting into if its really hard to do with the computer stuff and wiring. gas is a booger on the 351c.

eh buy the efi off the mustang and add it to the cleve with an aftermarket manifold that has fuel rails made in like coast high performance offers. then wire it up and run the fuel lines. it would need to be a mass air setup(89-93) stang setup. then pirate the aod too. the tranny will work with the stock flexplate on the cleve so all you will need is a shortened d/s and a new crossmember and the linkage for the tv cable properly hooked up etc etc

1970coupe -> RE: Big problem? (5/11/2008 11:44:46 AM)

thats all greek to me. So in order to make it work its gonna take alot of $$$ and the know how to make some parts?

rmodel65 -> RE: Big problem? (5/11/2008 11:46:30 AM)

not really you can use a 351w efi dizzy for the cleve the intake and throttle body  bolts on(granted not cheap but it would be a nice upgrade) etc

1970coupe -> RE: Big problem? (5/11/2008 11:54:33 AM)

yeah. well how hard is it to install a later model mustang efi motor. I hear the computer and wiring is the hardest part. anyone have an artical on the procedure?

flyingfool -> RE: Big problem? (5/11/2008 1:50:03 PM)

just go T5! haha. easy light, and can get em pretty cheap...cept then youd have to get the clutch and stuff..soo mabeye not so cheap
