Cruising to the Sunday am hang out...... top down sun in my face.......

I see three C6 vettes coming up behind me at a goo clip.... there is a slower car in front of me.... not wanting to get caught behind this car I drop to 3rd and  gun past it......

as I slow down a Silver Z06 comes past quick and then starts to slow.... I see him drop a gear... I'm still slowing (60ish now) I see him drop yet another gear....

I'm thinking to myself... I should not bother as I know I have no chance.... then I say screw it... for fun.... lets go.. I drop to 3rd he hits it a bit and lets off... then I hit it a bit.... and let off... he goes and I follow.....   it was over before I reached the top of 3rd... he was about 4 cars out and pulling more... so I let off.    we get side bye side and I tip my cap to him and he simles and gives me a thumbs up.   I come to find out the car has H/C/I and makes 570+ to the tire.... that and 700 lbs less... and no wonder he killed me so bad......

Second as I'm on the way out from the hang out... there  is a 73 Vette in my rear view for about 10 miles.  We get off the same exit and finally catch a light together.  I notice the cowl says 454 and he's got chrome side pipes.   When the light turns green we both hit it, I spin a bit in first, grab second spin a bit more and by 50mph I'm a 1 1/2 - 2 cars ahead and let off (wide open street but a 30 mph limit).  I guess all the smog stuff kills the 454 in the early 70s.

What a great day overall.

I also witnessed a new Super Snake (600 hp version) run a Z06(tune only) and lose by about 2 cars.  I was in a GT500 with a 2.8 KB (700+rwhp) as a chase car.  Man that was a blast as well.

Now its time to play good husband and father for the day!

Very cool runs.  I can't wait for my cam package.  I'm dropping hints to the wife for Fathers Day.  Something tells me I am going to be sh!t out of luck.

I have to wait til my birthday in August for any kind of goodies for the Vette
Nice runs Stk. All the Z06 guys around here are 85 years old and never rev over 2000.
I have yet to see the SuperSnake around here either....lucky bastard.

Did the KB GT500 and Z06 ever get it on?

The KB gt500 and Z06 didnt run today.  the Z06 owner, who's a good buddy, ran him b4 he had a tune and lost by a 1-2 cars from what he told me.

turns out the SuperSnake is the 725 version made 660 rwhp on a dyno

I did give all I had for about 3 seconds...LOL... by then it was over.  The vette left like it was shot from a cannon.  3400 lbs with driver and 570+ whp will do that!

All in all it was the most fun I've had with the car in a few months!  thanks for the responses guys

ulk Hogan's son jailed for eight months after car accident leaves friend in 'vegetative state' Last updated at 11:10am on 12th May 2008
Wrestler Hulk Hogan's teenage son Nick Bollea was sentenced to eight months in prison after causing a car crash which left his best friend in a vegetative state. Nick, 17, pleaded no contest to charges of felony reckless driving stemming from a August 2007 accident in Clearwater, Florida. The teenager was speeding in his yellow Toyoya Supra with his friend John Graziano, 22, in the passenger seat when the vehicle careered off the highway and hit a palm tree.

Nice runs Stkjock.

Question, wouldn't a 660 RWHP Super Snake run low 11's, trapping at the least 125ish?   I figured with that much of a power difference, it would actually be neck and neck with a Vette.  Man, that sounds like a hell of a lot of fun!!!

Very not bad runs OP.. I know I'd probably still get slaughtered by Z06, especially from a highway roll, it'd still be fun to do though. ;-) At least you ran it instead of backing out like some people would. The early 70's body style isn't exactly my favorite vette, but it's definitely a good kill. Now the 69 vette with a 427 dropped in it, now that's sex on wheels..

Can't wait till I can actually drive again let alone run cars like Z06 vette. lol

C6 Z06's dyno between 440 and 460.  And a tune with NOTHING else is good for 10-15 hp, tops.  So call it a 475 rwhp 3100 pound car vs a 660 rwhp 2 ton car.  How in the world did the Super Snake not win?  I know there is a big weight difference, but it has ~185 more rwhp.  Something is rotten in Denmark!

I was thinking the same thing.  Maybe it spun like crazy, or the guy couldn't drive?  Or maybe it weighs even more than 4,000 lbs

I guess all the smog stuff kills the 454 in the early 70s.

You guess correctly. Smog controls, plus lower compression ratios for running unleaded fuel, had the '72 and later Vettes's(as well as all other muscle cars) of that decade huffin' and puffin'.
FTR, the '73 Vette's 454 cranked out 275 net hp(approx. 350 gross hp), as compared to 465 gross hp for the '70 Vette's LS7 454.

Kudos on runs, BTW.
