...i researched the old threads, but didnt get a def. answer. ive got a 1998 (NON new edge, no hood scoop) sixer, and am slowly but shurely whittling down my supporting mods. my car is getting ready to go in the body shop for some cosmetic stuff...im actually getting the paint re-done in a few areas, and was going to paint the factory hood. i didnt know cowls were so cheap for mustangs (similar ones for my old turbo four banger ran in the 800-900 range), so i thought id go ahead and buy one and get them to paint it a flattish black, to match the chin spoiler im installing.
per my future plans, hopefully, by next summer, i will be able to hire a shop to do my 4.2 supercharged build...depending on what the ssm/nathan/lilroush have available by then, i may go with a splitport/m112 set up over a procharger, like i originally planned. i really would prefer a roots type blower over a centrifugal one...the sound and low end grunt are amazing on em. i figure with the stroked motor, split port swap, forged internals and a medium level boost, ill get 350whp/400wtq, which would be more than enough for me. of course, gotta build the tranny before then.
anyways, on topic...since i am replacing the hood, i wanna get a cowl that is TALL enough to clear any m112 setup i MAY decide to go with. better i get one large enough now, and have it already for when i boost, than have a different style one and it not fit and have to buy another one later, since i figure itll run about a grand after prepping, priming and painting.
can someone (lilroush or mysteed) give me the definite answer on if any 3 inch cowl hood will work and clear any m112 setup? i really dont want a 4inch or larger cowl...dont get me wrong, it looks sweet on ryans new edge, with his termi bumper and all, but i think it wouldnt look so hot on a 98 model. 3 inch will be pushing the limit.
thanks! cant wait to get it.

im thinkin g tbis one, if it will clear the taller m112 adapter plate. i figure 3.5inches should be enough, and i like this hood, because it is more 'rounded', whcih i think looks better on the 94-98s. anyone like it/not like it/know if this will fit the m112 with the taller plate adapter?

the blower itself if cheap, especially with the port work and rebuild..getting it to work, the install kit, all of the supporting fuel and spark mods, tuning, tranny mods so it wont break, etc..thatd be the money taker. augh, there is never enough cash.

1 dont pay 750 for your eaton, pay 300, up 500 if the TB/plenum and such are all attached. 2. you don't need it ported, I don't know if you are plannin to run on stock internals +splitport swap. 3 Most thing stock off the cobra/eaton m112 will be fine.
ok i went back up and read, but i still don't think you need to pay all that for a ported. I'm going to buy a 3" hood tomorow, and shoot for the m112 build on the weekend, i'll let you know how i fair.

cool, man. ive researched quite a bit, and i dunno why, i just think the m112 would be so sweet to have with a 4.2. so skidawgs, any 3 inch or higher cowl should work with the taller adapter plate? if so, im gonna go with the cervini 1995 cobra r unit.

I don't know enough about your year or about plate sized to be your final answer. I'm ordering a 3" cowl hood and expecting to make some alterations to the underside.... as long as I don't have to have anything go thru the entire hood I will be pleased.
More than one person that I've seen while doing research has fit it under a 2.5" Cobra R hood. LilRoush is one of them obviously. I would love to use that hood, but I plan to paint stripes on car when i recover from the current financial butt whoopin. Would look better on a flat hood.
Don't forget it's not just the blower that you have to be concerned with, the plenum/TB that extends off is still high in the air.

Do NOT get that ported blowerr from those people. Multiple people on the SVTP boards have had issues with them and some people have had bad bearing failures, which ultimately cot them even more money. If you are looking for a ported blower, look for a used one on SVTP.
As far as the 3" cowl, I would hold off on that for now. Matt and I have been talking a lot about a new plate we're going to try out and this one just might fit under the stock hood. Yup, you heard it here first fellas, the m112 might be able to fit under a stock hood.
Oh, and for where I was all day, I was at a car show.

No we have a setup that will fit under a 3" cowl. The prototype, if you can call it that, has been done for months now. I've been running my setup for over a year now.
Would you rather wait another month and not buy a hood or have it in three weeks?

eh, i was gonna buy another hood anywaym just for the cooling effect and aesthetics. :) Just wanted to make sure the adapter plate would fit under the 3.5 inch cervinis cobra r cowl. whether i eventually buy your current set up, or if you get a plate that works under a stock hood, both will clear the 3.5 cervinis cowl, yes?

I'm in Dallas working on dropping a new motor in my car - so I've been tied up. Nathan is right about the new set up. We keep looking to make the best possible design - so that means lots of testing and tweaking. Right now a 3" cowl will work with how I have my car set up (I run a 2 1/2" Y2K R hood). I'm currently making the next level of intake manifold to test out on my new motor.
