After some jackhole in a bigass truck kicked up a rock and cracked it.
But WTF. When I got home from the dealer and wiped the finger and handprints off the thing I have two hairline scratches right in the middle of the windshield. One is almost 4" long. I can see these things every time I'm facing the light.
Is this normal? Should I go back and bug the dealer about this? Seems a little r-tarded to have a $400 windshield put in and have scratches on it.
Thanks. I talked to my dad and he said the same thing. Basically if this scratch was up in an extreme corner I probably would let it go. But right in the middle... meh. No.
Also, he told me that a lot of the glass automakers use now is made in Mexico and that some of it is of pretty low quality. Wonder if that's true.
bring it back and make sure it is genuine ford glass it will have the pony on it glass is an impotant part of the crash integrity in a car

take it back....also, if you would have gotten the time, trucking company, and licence or truck number the trucking company is liable for you windshield. I see companies putting not resmponsible for damage to other vehicles stickers on the trailers. This is BS.

Then don't drive a low car behind a big ass truck. I don't think the driver can avoid every sing pebble and rock on the road, but you can usually avoid the truck most of the time... or at least keep your distance. As for the windshield, definitely take it back ASAP, before they can call it a scratch on your part.

Take her back ASAP or they will claim it happened after you left the stealership. Scratches weaken the surface and its now defective as well as being an eyesore.
I took it in to the dealer this morning and showed them the scratches. They said they are going to have their "glass supplier" come out and look at it. Whether they are going to try and repair the scratches, put an entirely new windshield in, or attempt to blame this on me I don't know yet.
Should hear back sometime this morning. If they attempt to blame this on me I am going to be absolutely furious. Also, if they make repairs and I'm not happy with the results I will insist on a new windshield. If they won't comply with that then I am calling my insurance agent and attempt to get them to stop payment on the windshield.
I just replaced my front windshield on my '06 GT due to a "bullseye" right in my line of sight. It cost me $265 installed for the genuine Ford Carlite glass with the running pony.
The dealer didn't actually replace your glass, they subcontracted it out to a mobile glass installer. You could have done the same thing and saved yourself quite a chunk of change.
