I just installed an MRT catted h pipe the other day and I'm satisfied with the sound, but had a question which seems kind of important.
When im in the car, i can smell some remnants of raw gasoline or something that smells very similar. . its usually when i put theair on inside. Since its a catted h pipe, shouldnt i not smell gasoline coming from the exhaust, and even if you can still smell a little unburnt gas coming out of the tail pipes, how is it getting into my car when the windows are closed. I dont think i have an exhaust leak, i already checked and it seems fine.
I had a thought that It could be the lead on the passenger side gasket melting from heat. The stock one when i took it off had no lead on it so i'm assuming that when heated, the lead drips into cracks and crevices to make a seal, and the rest burns off, and over time the smell goes away.
Its a very hard smell to describe but kinda smells like ozone mixed with gasoline fumes. Any ideas on what this could be? a problem? or just normal for a high performance catted midpipe?
