CAI on a Carb?

Ive got a 86 Stang with a Carbed 2.3l-everything is stock with the exception of the plugs, air filter, and oil filter.

Theres a black plastic tube (looks like a CAI) that goes from the metal casing around the aircleaner ontop and across the motor (with wires and air hoses) to rite behind the battery into the fender.

Anyone know what this is/does??
