I was out cruising tonight just listening to the wings game because my comcast went out and I came across this torch red S197 GT with both his windows down and performance shop stickers on the rear quarter windows
so we line up.... this time not really certain what he is gonna do so I just sit there, as the light turns green I hear tires break loose and a bad ass sounding exhaust... I give it a snap of 1/2 throttle with no slipping at all and then ease into WOT, I get a half a car through first and then his car hops through the gear and pulls even going into second... then through second I put a half a car on him and we shut down
at the next light he is sitting there with a thumbs up and I do the same...I talk to him and we quickly find out we are both auto's... only his has a CAI, tune, corsa catback and LCA's on stock rubber... and I say "wanna try again?" and he obliges... this time I rev it up to 1K and try for a launch... bad idea. on green my rear tires hop up and down halfway through 1st and he gets a car on me through first and then into second I stop the pull and make up a few inches through 2nd and then we both shut it down with him about a car ahead
I get up next to him and say "nice car!" with my thumb up and he says "likewise!" and we go our seperate ways
tonight I think I just found out the best way to launch my car.... all this time I have been revving it up to 1000-1500RPM and then flooring it on green
1-1 not bad especially since u just got the car. Ur first mod should drag bags and better tires (if u drive stockish one) and tune and u are in the 12s for sure.
close, I'm waiting on the tune because I want everything to go on and then tune it then
I have a HPE S cam and drag bags in the mail now, that's just going to sit in the garage untill I get a set of LT's and a catback
then after it's all sitting next to each other and a set of DR's are on the GTO, I'll take it to livernois performance and tune in the whole package professionally on the dyno, but I will probably be waiting untill september the way things are going, I have the money to do it all now but I'm a neat freak when it comes to having everything payed off and will inch into it part by part
Nice runs man. I dont know if I can wait til September to see a vid of your car with the mods, get to moddin, LOL.
+1, Im looking foreward to seein how that goat sounds cammed What do you expect to run with those mods? Im not very familiar with modded GTO's
With drag bags, headers, exhaust, cam and a dyno tune, I'd expect around 450rwhp and 11's in the 1/4 mile.
lol, well... that's a little too much to ask I think, I'm an auto so I'll be happy with 400-420RWHP, and I'll be shooting for low 12's, once I get the brute force plate kit, there's my 11's

I would think the cam alone with a nice tune would net you close to 400rwhp and put you in the low 12's with drag bags and some good DR's. Add the LT's, exhaust and intake for another 40-50rwhp, that would put you close to 450rwhp and in the 11's for sure. Atleast I would think so.

I just always know lowballing your expectations is a good thing... it's like warning a girl you have an extremely small penis so she gets happy when you whip it out and it's a normal size... rather than telling her you have a huge wang that kills donkeys and then when you whip it out she is dissapointed
well... something like that

you bastard, your getting the ur goat cammed . Alright just a heads up stall is a must and vigilante is a good choice. (Never cheap out on a stall, vigilante is a little pricey but u get what u pay), U must get a trans cooler the best one you can get because this torque converter will fry your tranny if you dont monitor the temperature levels. I will also recomend a tranny temp gauge. I will also do a Shift kit (it helps a lot). Since you are getting a cam a nice set of Kooks or SLP headers will Net you sick amount of power. Dont buy K&N CAI since it is a PIta to install, it took me hours to do mine. Now im sure u are well aware of ED performance shop, he sells cam packages at a reseanable price, cuz for the cam you will need to beef up the spring valves (get the double ones), titanium retainers, etc. you are going to have a beast and as far for for streetable you will be fine but you will tank that goat more often.

I wanna know what your smoking?? Can I have some??? I've never heard of any car gaining that much HP with just a intake and exhaust upgrades that isn't FI. I know the LSX motors are nice but from what I was told a catback adds like 3-5hp and the rest of the exhaust isn't much either probably 25hp TOPS with the intake and the full exhaust. It will be alot more responsive but it won't add 40-50rwhp.

I gained about 60rwhp with headers, xpipe, CAI and a tune. No exhaust...
It's happened millions of times..
GM puts good engines in their cars but the surrounding components really restrict hp...

I was told that non FI cars don't really gain much from breathing type mods. This is obviously just from what I was told from some of the LS guys I know. You will definately feel the difference in the throttle responce and all that but like I said I was told differently maybe I'll inform those guys about it now.

Morbid, when you get the cam, LT's and catback on there I'd expect no less than 420rwhp. Keep in mind that a great number of LS1 FBody's put down 400+ with cam only setups.

Mr. Rogers has already explained it all to you basically. And I figured I'd add this, the new 3v Mustangs are getting 20-25rwhp easy with an intake and tune.
