okay guys, ive decided to sell my sixer this summer and buy a v8. But im at a crossroads, between getting a 99-04 mustangGT or getting an LT1 4th gen v8 Camaro. I love the Mustang styling, but unless im wrong, the camaro has more base hp/tq and they are around the same price range as eachother. So unless theres more reasons to go with a GT, im really considering a CAmaro SS. I really need some Mustang persuasion rite now, help me guys!

stick with the mustang.... an LT1 does have more base horsepower than a new edge GT, but i still think that the 4.6 is just as fast, or faster...  and with the new edge, you will have a much newer car than with the LT1.  and on top of all of that, the mustang just looks better.  but i do have to admit, my buddy has a red '01 SS with chrome wheels that is running low 11's at the track, and its a very good looking car.

The LT1 is a great motor and the performance is about equal to a 99+ GT. You should be able to find an LT1 camaro/TA for a decent amount less than a 99+ GT. Dont let anyone tell you one os junk and the other one is better their both great cars. You just have to decide which one is better for you, i like the looks of the mustang more but i do like pushrod motors over modular. Also is your going to be doing a lot of modding to the car you have to remember that half of the engine will be under the dashboard for the LT1 so the mustang is much easier to work on. Good luck

Stock for stock LT1's are quicker, but not by much. And they respond a lot better to mods than the modular motors. If you can deal with the styling, crappy interiors, blind spots, and crappier rears then get one.

Heres my story:

98 Taurus- oil, oil filter, air filter every 4,000-5,000 miles 1 serprntine belt tore on the high way, killed an alternator with my stereo, first tranny was a recall on the speed sensor, absolutly beat the hell out of it-269,000+miles and counting

98 chevy lumina- 127,000 oil oil filter and air filter every 3000- 3rd head gasket blew last week, tranny is shot oh and now.....Lots of metal shavings in the oil...

I will never personally buy a chevy again

Takes a lot more than a V8 to make you a man.... I know a lot of 40+ year olds with big V8's who are still children... In fact, needing a V8 to prove your a man is quite childish.

ok...if you are planning on getting an LS1 then i would go with that over the new edge.  the performance gains of the LT1 over the new edge just dont make up the looks difference.  and if i remember correctly, the LS1's have a slightly different front end.  So yeah, i'd go with a newer SS camaro over the new edge GT.

x2, a real man could just work with what he had and build/boost the sh*t out of your current car

LS1 FTW
